Grateful for this one.

To be trusted with the lead story in MR Magazine is something I don’t take lightly.

As an immigrant from the Philippines, learning English as a second language, and going through the process of building a life here in the U.S., this feels like a full circle moment.

To now be able to write and share my perspective on fashion, retail, and the brands I believe in… I don’t take that for granted.

79 days on the road.

Moving between cities, showrooms, retail floors, long drives and early flights. Some personal moments, but mostly work. The people, the stores, the brands and designers that keep this industry moving forward.

I tried to highlight and tag many of the retailers, designers, and brands I’m lucky to spend time with.

A lot of them are small businesses doing great things, and they deserve our support and attention.

After we wrapped up July’s show last year, we were already at the drawing board with theme ideas for the next one in January.

Knowing that brands will be showing their AW26 collections, Brad crystalized the idea of Robert Frost’s poem “Nothing Gold Can Stay” and its significance in The Outsiders novel and film. I remember my reaction: “say less.” + 🤩🏃‍♀️

I wanted to visualize the idea of how nothing gold can stay, but it can delevop a rich patina. From aged leather to faded denim to broken-in canvas – these have textures and colors that embody the passage of time. And using the “fashion” of the Greasers & Socs as a foundation, it made for some great assets.

While deep diving into the world of the film – behind the scenes, development, production, etc. – I saw the playfulness, trust and camaraderie between the cast & crew. It had me reflecting on how it feels to work with Floor13. The theme of the trade show started to feel like a representation of the team behind the show itself.

This was a very special show to work on and looking back, it was definitely a favorite. Cheers, gents – stay gold – love y’all.

After we wrapped up July’s show last year, we were already at the drawing board with theme ideas for the next one in January.

Knowing that brands will be showing their AW26 collections, Brad crystalized the idea of Robert Frost’s poem “Nothing Gold Can Stay” and its significance in The Outsiders novel and film. I remember my reaction: “say less.” + 🤩🏃‍♀️

I wanted to visualize the idea of how nothing gold can stay, but it can delevop a rich patina. From aged leather to faded denim to broken-in canvas – these have textures and colors that embody the passage of time. And using the “fashion” of the Greasers & Socs as a foundation, it made for some great assets.

While deep diving into the world of the film – behind the scenes, development, production, etc. – I saw the playfulness, trust and camaraderie between the cast & crew. It had me reflecting on how it feels to work with Floor13. The theme of the trade show started to feel like a representation of the team behind the show itself.
