This was my first time getting to showcase my work at this capacity and to be able to share this moment with my brother and partner in slay was ICONIC in itself ! So many women of color with curves hitting a dip on stage every night at sold out shows was unheard ofUNTIL it HAPPENED!Most had never taken a vogue class in their lives but were up to the challenge and gave their best virginvogue performance in front of the entire world ! Talk about having nerve! We are iving and creating ballroom history and HERstory !

Can balls end at a reasonable hour? It’s giving take a nap before the function or bring a pillow!I’ve been to balls that lasted until 10am and now balls are becoming 2 day events and you gotta pay another fee for day 2 . How do yall feel about this ?Should we start Doing sign-ups ahead of time ? Should there be a hard out for the end of ball ?

Way too often, ball organizers stress that the event will be starting on time and it rarely ever does. They decide to delay LSS and blame everybody for being late and when people are early, The venue isn’t even set up and the people that need to be in the building for the Ball to Start aren’t even there. This creates a load of problems because then y’all wanna start rushing categories , change the order of categories so ya friends or house members can make it and sometimes the ball doesn’t even finish. It’s time to break bad habits and work on evolving community and ball standards. Start starting ON-TIME and let the Gworlz Gag ! Balls not finishing after spending lump sums to come compete or ending at 8am is getting out of hand.Say ya piece in the comments!

We are out here spending thousands of dollars for five chicken nuggets, one water and a bag of chips! The least you can do is go to Costco! Seriously one house table can pay for your Costco membership and enough snacks to get for the entire ball lmbo! Stop trying to pay y’all entire bills off the house tables and entry fees ! Also chill on giving away so much money if it’s not in the budget, you arnt guaranteed to make it off tables or the door! I really love yall but ballroom events are starting to become spectator heavy because our own community is starting to be unable to afford to attend! BIO: Angel “Angyil” McNeal is originally from Kansas City, Missouri, where she grew a love for dance from a very young age. She started in the ballet space, training classically and always keeping her appearance primed and poised. Overall Founding mother of the Kiki house of FuBu, member of the Haus of Basquiatand star of HBO’s Max’s Legendary! She is known for being a dedicated performer on and off the ballroom floor, bringing undergroundballroom culture and choreography to main stages and platforms including Doechii,Lizzo, Megan the stallion, Madonna,FKA Twigs, vogue magazine and more.

BIO: Fantaye, a Los Angeles native with Ethiopian roots, is a Hip Hop freestyle dance artist, choreographer, and educator who has spent over a decade building a career that bridges street dance choreography and freestyle expression. As a freestyle artist, she has earned major battle recognition, including winning Freestyle Session’s 2v2 Open Styles Battle and reaching the finals at VersaStyle’s 20th Anniversary Hip Hop Battle. She is also the founder of All Black Collective, a performance group dedicated to bridging Hip Hop freestyle and choreography while creating space for Black dance artists who move fluidly between both worlds. Through her work, Fantaye is dedicated to inspiring the next generation of dancers to develop their own authentic voice in freestyle, choreography, and beyond.
