Heritage Tomato & Roasted Almond Sothi

Smooth, rich and mildly spiced coconut gravy seasoned with green chilli, garlic, black cardamom, cinnamon and curry leaves. Ground almonds thicken the sauce, which is finished with Heritage tomatoes and toasted almonds!

And then there’s the wine itself! Paired intentionally with the spice and depth of Trinco’s dishes, each glass came alive in a different way. British sparkling wine, when it’s done this well, is DIVINE. Available at Dulwich, and soon, Sutton!

Last Thursday, we hosted a Sunset Rooftop Sparkling Wine Tasting with Roebuck Estates, led by Will, a Dulwich local and a regular of ours, featuring four wines, paired with small plates from Trinco for each and one very special bottle of an Unreleased 2020 straight from the vineyard! A wine created during lockdown - just like us!

Roebuck Estates are a British sparkling wine producer located just 50 miles from Dulwich in West Sussex. Sustainability sits at the heart of their entire operating model. Whether it’s using sheep to graze the vineyards in winter, investing in ways to minimise their environmental footprint, or sourcing more eco-friendly materials for their bottles, there is a real sense of care and responsibility behind everything they do.

This week’s Trinco Special: Rassam 🪄

A South Indian and Sri Lankan soul-food staple, Rassam has Tamil roots dating back centuries, a thin, deeply spiced broth built on tamarind, black pepper, dried red chilli, cumin, and garlic. Warming, restorative, and full of life.

Ours comes with tomato, chickpeas, crispy onions, herbs, sesame crunch, a fried egg, and mint sambol.

Our head of food, Iza, says it “tastes like summer.” We think that says it all 😉

This month, we had the pleasure of partnering with Dulwich Festival to bring a truly special series of events to Oru, and what a couple of weeks it’s been!

Sober Social, Rhythm & Release with @kat.cashman , Kitchen Confessional: A storytelling Supper club & Rhythms of the Disapora: Yoga & Tamil Instrumentals with @sikdrummer , @preetipm_ & @vibushanandwolfie

From a Sober Social that proved connection can truly flourish without the need for alcohol, to a Kitchen Confessional where stories were shared over shared plates, to Rhythm and Release, exploring the true medicine of movement. Each event felt like a reminder of why we do what we do. We rounded things off with an embodied yoga practice set to live Tamil instrumentals; a genuinely rare and beautiful experience bringing together music and movement 🪄

Each room was full, and the energy in the room showed exactly why. To everyone who came along, thank you for showing up and making each moment what it was. And to Dulwich Festival, thank you for trusting us as a partner and for helping us bring such a rich, diverse programme to the heart of the community 🌿
