Celebrating 40 years as a band, The Klezmatics brought incredible energy, musicianship, and joy. It was a jubilant performance, full of wit and inimitable spirit.

The evening also featured a fascinating curtain talk, moderated by David Lazaroff of The Brothers Lazaroff, that explored the band's history and the evolution of their groundbreaking music.

Light Seeker at the Sheldon in St. Louis, Missouri

Reception: June 12th from 6-8pm (I’ll be there!)

Light seeker is made up of hundreds of abstract pinhole camera images that I make to calm down from being anxious. The resulting imagery is that capturing of color, light, and energy that is around me. Each roll of film is also film souped, which can be anything from coffee/tea to hot sauce to cleaning products. Anything that I interact with or put on my body becomes my film soup. This creates another layer of distortion on the film. The plush pillow forms are meant to be soft and squishy. They are objects of comfort that each hold an image of the act of calming down. Within each squishy there could be portal to another world, the remembrance of a special rock to be collected, or the light trails of the stars can be seen. Light Seeker is a collection of all my anxious to calm moments. It is an abstract self portrait.

Congratulations to our six #ForsythSchool Grade 3 students whose Science of Learning Instrument Design (SOLID) projects were featured in the annual #STEAM Showcase at The Sheldon Concert Hall & Art Galleries last Wednesday, May 6.

SOLID (Science of Learning Instrument Design) is a free educational program that challenges students to design and create a unique musical instrument from recycled materials. The program includes live demonstrations from the @stlsciencecenter on the "science of sound" and @sheldonstl on instrument design, world music, and the engineering cycle. Grade 3 students further explored different components of the project in specialist classes with Mrs. Sharon Anibal (Science), Ms. Rose Fischer (Music), Ms. Melissa Leuthardt (Innovation & Design), and Ms. Saaba Lutzeler (Art).

🎼The Composers Cooperative spotlights two St. Louis composers of modern chamber music, internationally acclaimed musician Dr. Michael F. Hunt and Stephen Jones.
