The locker room hang was amazing with the soldiers and the mascot aka man in a bird costume. Oh, and 6 people parachuted in right before this. Pretty good party.

“Kaalmo Doon” is a song by Waayaha Cusub, a group out of Somalia I got to back up for a bit when they came through Minnesota in 2016. This was one of my favorite riffs to play with them, so I made a sort of remix which, in this case, means I added a bunch of guitars.

“United Untitled” started as a field recording from the street where, a few hours earlier, Alex Pretti was killed. I liked the sound of the voice of the person leading the chant, reminded me of this band called Sial. I invited my friends and neighbors Annie Humphrey and Aida Shahghasemi to add their voices. Annie sang a melody written by her friend Quiltman as performed on the song “Crazy Horse” by John Trudell.

“Vigil (Overnight Shift)” is a continuation of “United Untitled,” going into the night when the memorials around our neighborhood are held down by just a few hard core souls.

MARCH 1ST @berlinmpls: Jeremy Ylvisaker is a multi-instrumentalist, composer, producer, teacher, and visual artist whose music and images are influenced by decades of wildly disparate collaborations with artists both popular (Laufey, Bon Iver, Sara Bareilles, Andrew Bird, Suki Waterhouse, Bruce Hornsby, etc..) and, more often, underground. These friendships are reflected in many solo recordings as well as with his trio Alpha Consumer, in his multi media series Nights for All Time, also in his contributions to soundtracks such as Aggregate States of Matters (MoMA), Refeamed: Forgotten Film Remembered (Walker Art Center), MacBeth on Broadway, and in an improvised score alongside Merce Cunningham Dance Company. Some of his favorite art is collaborations between taggers, the people who paint over their tag, and the people who mark where utilities are.
