At a time when LGBTQIA+ rights are under very real threat this piece feels like hope. I want to take a moment to tell you to buy a ticket to Plue before it sells out. This show is so much more than just a big slay of a costume in trans colours. It has been a huge part of my life for the best part of a year and I’m proud of what we have created. It now feels quite brave to perform something that so deeply encompasses what it feels like to exist as a queer and trans person.

When I’m performing Plue I often think about:

octopus tentacles
teenagehood
what if I was a bit taller?
first loves
lost loves
becoming creature
tom of Finland
looking in the mirror
hating my hair
seaweed
learning to flirt
strength in softness
fungus
TRANScending gender
the birds in the trees

Plue - A queer disappearing act examining visibility and intimacy, this hypnotic dance duet occupies and explores the gap between how queer people feel and how they’re seen.

Plue looks with love at how queer people appear and disappear as they adjust and re-position for the gaze of others. It is the dance of what, as queer people, we choose to share, what we feel pressured to hide, and what we can’t hide even if we tried.

Award-winning performance artist @elinorlewisperformanceartist and internationally-renowned choreographer and dance artist @joegarbettdance ’s first collaboration explores connection and disconnection, navigations of intimacy, and how we bridge distance to connect with care.
