It’s been over 8 years since I began filming THE TREASURE HUNTER. During this time I faced a lot of doubt and almost gave up many times but in Jack’s words “there was something inside me that said: no don’t give up. This is not for nothing.” More often than not it felt like it wouldn’t go anywhere or amount to anything so it is with great pride and gratitude to announce that the film has been selected to take part in this year’s newcomers competition by the Thessaloniki International Documentary Festival TiDF27 @filmfestivalgr for its world premiere on the 8th of March this year. It has been a long journey with so many different people involved but first and foremost I have to thank Jack, my childhood friend for giving me all your trust from the very beginning to the very end and to KJ for letting me into your home and allowing me to share your story with the world. I also have to thank Jordan Gross for seeing an early trailer of the film over three years ago and encouraging me deeply to finish the project. If it wasn’t for him this project probably would never have been completed. And lastly I couldn’t have done it without my editor Craig Macintosh who stuck with the project for over five years trusting my crazy instincts and choices throughout this wild story. To say “lastly” would probably be incorrect because there were so many other key people who helped me along the way and were involved and who I owe immense gratitude for believing in me and supporting me until the very end.

After working with @hugharnoldart for many years we finally decided it was time to make a film about his work. We started filming in 2022. The project brought us to the UK, France, Indonesia, America and finally Spain. The story follows his journey from the commercial world of fashion to the more risk-taking personal world of art and navigating through the challenges of being an artist. There are many amazing people who were part of this but I’d like to especially thank @celina_quesada who was also a fundamental part of the story. Over a year and a half ago I was introduced to Toni for the first time. I’m always apprehensive when someone asks me to make a film about their life story. Often the things people don’t want on camera are the very things that make a film interesting - conflict, drama, human flaws… Once I started filming I discovered very quickly that this wasn’t the case with Toni. She was incredibly brave, honest and vulnerable on camera. All the ingredients you want as a filmmaker.

So here finally, I am very happy to share the teaser for Toni’s Marathon, a documentary that has been in the making since November 2024. It’s been an incredible experience and a very dear project. The story talks of human resilience in the face of the impossible and touches on the subjects of Multiple Sclerosis and addiction. I learnt a huge amount working on this and am eternally grateful to you Toni and your family for trusting us with your life story and being so honest from the beginning. It was also such a pleasure to work with a whole array of different people during production and post-production. Thank you all for helping me bring this story to life, I couldn’t have done it without you.

The story talks of human resilience in the face of the impossible and touches on the subjects of Multiple Sclerosis and addiction. It’s been a long time in the making and this year it has been doing the festivals rounds. I’m especially excited and proud to announce the official Filipino premiere of @thetreasurehunterfilm at the country’s official film festival @qcinemaph in Manila. The film will be showing there on the 21st of November this month as part of the Dokyu Days series. Over the 8 years of production most of the documentary was shot in the Philippines so it’s an extra special occasion! I want to thank again all those involved including Jack, KJ and their family and everyone else who was part of their story as well as the local crew and team that helped me along the journey.
