β€œgo to bunnings, grab a shovel, and have a dig” - @thelifeofcortez πŸ₯„ (there is no shovel emoji)

Squat: 227.5kg (+2.5kg comp PR, match ATPR)
Bench: 142.5kg (+7.5kg comp PR, +2k ATPR)
Deadlift: 267.5kg
Total: 637.5kg (-0.5kg from states), 9/9, 93.93 GL Points

First 9/9 day since March 2017, redemption from 2022 Nationals, 8th in the country (again), and most fun I’ve had in all 14 powerlifting comps I’ve competed in. Thank you everyone for your support in however you showed it during the prep or on the day πŸ™πŸ½

NSW States Athlete Recap:

Two comebacks for two athletes, who have had a decent chunk of time away from the platform.

The last time @antomathews5 competed, was in November of 2023. His journey back to the platform wasn’t easy, having battled through a wide array of injuries. The worst being a nasty groin injury at the start of 2025 which prevented him from squatting and deadlift for some time. Despite this, he still managed to PR his squat by 2.5kgs, and PR his bench by 2.5kgs, and still walking away with a 2.5kg total PR. Post-comp, our goal is lower body rehab while getting him primed for Bench Nationals in December 🦣

Squat: 202.5kg
Bench: 142.5kg (bench Nats qualified)
Deadlift: 240kg
Total 585kg

James’ last 3-lift comp was in Feb 2025, where he had qualified for Mega Nats but got hit with a rough hamstring/glute injury right after. Since then, he’d been managing it on and off for a while before starting with me in September and through a great amount of trial and error, we have been able to get him back to the platform. We matched his squat PR, matched his bench from the bench-only 4 weeks ago (but +10 on his 3 lift), and hit a 5kg deadlift PR. The plan for now is to prep for another 3-lift later this year and further up his position for Mega Nats ’27, and still with 3 years left as a junior, I’m keen to see his growth 🌱

Squat: 170kg
Bench: 107.5kg
Deadlift: 220kg
Total 497.5kg, State Champ, Mega Nats QT

Thank you to the @australianpowerliftingalliance and @breakthroughpowerlifting volunteers for making the day run smoothly!

β€˜2026 NSW STATES CHAMPS’ recap

497.5 @66.0 πŸ₯‡
S - 170
B - 107.5
D - 220

All Glory to God ✞

First 3 lift comp back in 1 year and 4 months.

After absolutely eating dirt block after block, running in circles with various kinds of injuries within the past year, I’m truely blessed to have finally made my comeback into the platform. Nonetheless, this comp was a great reminder on why I will continue to love and compete in this sport. πŸ’•

Next time I’ll be in prime time.

I wanna give my gratitude to the brothers that have made this comeback possible.
@zt_output this guy has saw me at my lowest of lows in my training, and this comp is just a little stepping stone towards many more to come πŸ«‚
@warren.chiro fully saved my powerlifting career πŸ™
@barbelldietitian for the handling the nutrition side of things even though we had a short 4 week turnaround from my paragon comp πŸ₯—

S/o to the bois and @omnifitnessau for the support πŸ’™

Major thanks to @breakthroughpowerlifting @australianpowerliftingalliance & volunteers for running the comp 🀝

Sometimes, you just need to prescribe the load and let the athlete do their thing. Pretty keen to see @omni.sidecharacter keep progressing and finding his path 😁

When was the last time you prescribed the loads and wrote out the whole block?

Definitely one of the best workshops I’ve been to in recent years! Felt good to step outside of my comfort zone a little and do something different. Thank you @nurudinov_ruslan_weightlifting for your help and I hope you enjoy the rest of your trip! Thank you @atletika_weightlifting for the tips and assisting in the translations, even though Ruslan doesn’t need it 😁

Good to do some crossover work every once in a while. Should Omni host a Super Total comp?

Thanks @omnifitnessau for hosting!!
