Supporting the Commando community in honour of the fallen.

It is with the heaviest of hearts that Cronulla RSL shares the sudden passing of retired Combat Assault Dog, Manic.
More than a Military Working Dog, there was something deeply special about him; something impossible to explain unless you stood beside him. He carried a presence that touched people instantly.
Surrendered to a pound as a puppy and later purchased by the Army for just $8 from the RAAF, Manic went on to become one of Australia’s elite combat assault dogs, serving with distinction with the 2nd Commando Regiment, Special Operations Command Australia.
Following retirement in 2021, Manic settled in the Sutherland Shire with his devoted handler Jason and family, where he became Cronulla RSL’s first honorary four-legged member and captured the hearts of our community.
Even in retirement, Manic never stopped serving. He became an ambassador for AWAMO, Military Working Dogs and their handlers, helping Australians better understand the sacrifice and loyalty of these remarkable animals.
In 2025, Manic was awarded the inaugural Australian Animal Distinguished Service Award at the Australian War Memorial, recognising his extraordinary contribution to Australia.
But beyond the medals and service record, Manic was deeply loved by us all.
He loved the beach, pats, leaning on legs, naps, Kong toys, and most of all, being beside his brother Jason & his family.
Rest easy, Manic.
Your watch is over.
You were, and always will be, one of the very best.

It is with great sadness that the Zero79 Foundation acknowledges the death of Warrant Officer Class Two Lachlan Muddle, who tragically lost his life following a parachuting training incident on 11 May 2026.
Our thoughts and prayers are with his loved ones, members of the Regiment, and all those in the wider community who have been impacted by this devastating loss.
We honour his life, his service, and his sacrifice.
Vale Warrant Officer Class Two Lachlan Muddle.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined the Zero79 Foundation at our first Comedy & Konnect event in Brisbane.
Hosted by the Kedron-Wavell RSL, the evening was a powerful reminder of the strength of connection, mateship, and community.
We were honoured to recognise SGT Brett Wood MG DSM with the release of a Dead Reckoning Rum in his honour — a special tribute to a warrior and his legacy.
The night also gave us the opportunity to share our impact over the past three months, along with some exciting programs and events happening later this year.
Most importantly, Konnect continues to provide a space for former and current serving Commandos and their families to come together, connect, reconnect, and support one another outside of the operational environment.
Thank you to everyone who attended, supported, donated prizes and helped make the evening such a success.

On this day in 2008, Australia lost a warrior - Lance Corporal Jason Marks, 4RAR (Commando).
Whilst serving with the Special Operations Task Group in Uruzgan Province, Afghanistan, Jason was killed during a heavy exchange of small arms fire and rocket-propelled grenades with Taliban extremists. In addition to Jason, four other Australian soldiers were wounded in the attack.
Jason is survived by his wife and two young children, loving parents and brother. His sacrifice on the 27 April 2008 is a reminder of the immense cost of service - not just to those in uniform, but to the families, friends and comrades who continue to carry the weight of their absence.
Lest We Forget.

Today, on ANZAC Day, we pause to remember the courage, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment of those who have served our nation.
We honour the fallen Australian Commandos who gave their lives in service.Their legacy lives on in the mateship, resilience, and spirit that defines our community.
The Zero79 Foundation continues to stand beside those who serve today, former serving Commandos and their families. ANZAC Day is a reminder that the cost of service does not end on the battlefield and neither should our support.
Lest we forget.

It Still Matters
Wherever you are this ANZAC Day, I hope you attend a dawn service. Enjoy the beers, the two-up, and everything else that comes with it—but please, attend a dawn service.
For me, ANZAC Day isn’t about being thanked for my service, or recognition of those still with us. It’s a time where we, as a nation, get up early and stand in the rain and cold. At times, you might be bored by a service that misses the mark—but that doesn’t matter. By simply being there, you’re saying, it still matters.
As time passes, the memories fade and the names become fewer—but your attendance means something. It means something to the kids whose fathers died when they were too young to remember them. For one day, your presence shows them—it still matters.
To the partners who lost someone in service, who have carried the grief and raised children on their own—your attendance says, it still matters.
To those servicemen and women who have stood on the tarmac at a ramp ceremony, watching their mates come home draped in the national flag—your attendance shows, it still matters.
Wherever you are, and however you spend your day, make the effort. Get up early. Stand in the cold. Stand in the rain. Even if you can’t hear the service, even if you can’t see—stand there anyway. Because the person next to you might be one of them.
On this day, your presence says everything.
It still matters.
Lest we forget.

Today we recognise the strength behind the strength.
On International Women’s Day, the Zero79 Foundation honours the incredible women who stand beside our veterans - and in particular, those who support our Commando community.
Behind every operator is a network of resilience: partners who carry the load at home during long absences, mothers who hold families together through uncertainty, sisters who provide quiet encouragement, daughters who inspire continued service and the women who step into leadership roles within our veteran community.
Service does not only belong to the individual who wears the uniform. It is shared by families. It is carried in the sacrifices made at home.It is felt in the strength, patience and unwavering support shown every day.
To the women who endure the deployments, the relocations, the missed milestones and the invisible weight of service - we see you, we thank you and we honour you.
Your resilience strengthens our veterans.
Your commitment strengthens our community.
Your support strengthens our nation.
Today and every day we stand with you.
