When the landscape becomes a place for creation. 
 
Since 2022, Z33 – House for Contemporary Art, Design & Architecture, and Regional LandscapeKempen & Maasland have beendeveloping Art on the Meuse, an art project in the Limburg Meuse Valley. 
 
Along the Flemish bank of theRivierPark Maasvallei, Belgian andinternational artists create site-specificartworks in dialogue with the river, thelandscape and the stories connected toit. 
 
Between borders, river dynamics andindustrial memory, each artwork revealsa new way of reading this territory. 
 
From Mark Dion to Laure Prouvost, including Adrien Tirtiaux, Germaine Kruip and Koen Vanmechelen, Art on the Meuse invites visitors to rediscoverthe valley differently.

Meet gabi dao! 🦇

'The horrors persist but so do I' is on view until July 12. Admission is free.

@postdao is a Canadian artist based in the Netherlands. For their solo exhibition at Z33, dao presents a new installation and short film. Their work draws connections between the demonisation of animals such as mosquitoes or bats and narratives surrounding racialised, queer and trans communities.

Volgende week opent in Z33 de tentoonstelling “The horrors persist but so do I” van kunstenaar gabi dao. In deze solotentoonstelling zie je zielen in een overgangsfase: ze bewegen zich tussen verschillende werelden en bestaansvormen. Voor wie zoekend is naar een nieuwe vorm, ligt er hoop in transformatie. dao creëert een geloofssysteem waarin gedemoniseerde wezens zoals vleermuizen of vampieren symbolen van veerkracht worden voor raciale, queer- en transgemeenschappen.

Deze tentoonstelling is een samenwerking met de Jan van Eyck Academie, Maastricht.

Opening next week, Z33 presents “The horrors persist but so do I” by artist gabi dao. In their solo exhibition, we see souls in a process of transition: moving between realms and states of being. For those restlessly searching for a new form, hope lies in transformation. dao constructs a system of belief where demonised creatures such as bats or vampires become figures of resilience for racialised, queer and trans communities.

This exhibition is in collaboration with the Jan van Eyck Academie, Maastricht.
