Taking action, connecting, having a space where you can be yourself. This is what touching grass is all about.
We invited our ambassador @Cacherel_ to the Chelsea Flower Show to sit down with three of the young people who helped bring our garden to life and talk mental health and community.

Big love to Cach, Lauren, Ziyad and Tasnim 🫶

For the very first time, we’re taking a garden to the RHS Chelsea Flower Show. It’s being created by six young people and the amazing team at @ChaseGardens. At the heart of the garden is a story: Even in tough conditions, you will find a way through. #GenZTouchGrass
Thanks to @Project.Giving.Back and support from @BupaFoundation, we've been able to bring this concept to life.
After the Chelsea Flower Show, the garden will be relocated to Newham, thanks to our friends @e16clt and @peach_e16 💛

To: anyone struggling with their mental health. From: Hassnat 💛
Hassnat is one of the six young people who collaborated with @chase.gardens to build our garden for the RHS Chelsea Flower Show.
Thanks to @project.giving.back and support from @bupafoundation for helping us to make this happen.

OUR GARDEN WON A MEDAL 🏅🪴
It’s been a whirlwind couple of days at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show. So many wonderful people have already stopped by (hello Sadiq Khan and Queen Charlotte) and our garden has been awarded a silver-gilt medal!
Thank you so much to everyone who has taken the time to hear directly from young people and the team at @Chase.Gardens about why this garden really matters. 🫶
Here is a message from Lauren, one of the young people behind the garden:
“I hope that people will see the garden we’ve created and be able to find comfort and hope. Not only in the beautiful flowers and plants but also in the messages that we seek to get across, such as the cracked boulders with a tree growing through representing breaking down barriers and perseverance. I also hope it sparks conversations about the need for youth mental health support, and the crisis around this.”
#GenZTouchGrass
This is only the beginning. After the Chelsea Flower Show, we’ll be moving the garden to Newham, where it will become a living, breathing space for young people and the local community, thanks to @e16clt and @Peach_e16.
Big thank you to @Project.Giving.Back and @BupaFoundation for helping us bring the project to life.

Even in tough conditions, you will find a way through. That's the story we want to tell with our garden.
Our garden has been designed by @Chase.Gardens, with the help of six amazing young people.
We're so proud to show it to you.
Now it's on display at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, which has opened to the public today (and medals will be announced too!)
Thank you to @Project.Giving.Back and @BupaFoundation for helping us to make this garden a reality.
After the Chelsea Flower Show, the garden will be relocated to a community space in Newham, thanks to our friends @e16clt and @Peach_e16 💛

Here are some reminders for all the GCSE and A-Level students out there 💛
⭐️ Your results DO NOT define you
⭐️ Breaks are absolutely necessary when studying
⭐️ Go on walks, spend time with family, breathe fresh air… do something for your mind outside of studying and going on your phone
This period might feel all-consuming and like the biggest stress you’ll ever go through, but TRUST ME when I say that you will look back at this time and wish you were kinder to yourself. Don’t be so hard on yourself, you’re almost there. Keep going !!

This weekend you probably saw coverage of, or even witnessed first-hand far right marches organised in London.
The march saw speeches and action against minoritised groups, including anti-Muslim demonstrations and chanting. We are witnessing an undeniable rise in far-right rhetoric and acts of hate.
For young Muslims especially, but also Black, Asian, or racially minoritised young people, this may bring up a lot of fear, anger or anxiety.
Whether you live nearby and are worried about being targeted, or feel scared that these acts of hate will become more normal, please know this:
You belong here. You deserve to feel safe in your home. And we are here to support you if you’re struggling.
Right now, young people are being let down. Struggling to find stable work, dealing with rising living costs, and waiting too long for help can make life feel impossible.
When you’re feeling unsupported or stuck, it can be tempting to believe simple answers that blame other people. But trust us, no one can promise you a fairer society that’s built on hatred and masked as national pride.
We need to focus on building systems that work and not on scapegoating people who are navigating the same struggles.

We’re ready to help build this strategy and put it into action. Alongside other charities in the #FutureMinds coalition, we’ve rallied together to create a bold and fully costed plan to help the Government transform young people’s mental health. This is the moment to finally make young people’s mental health a priority. Let’s get to work.

Mental Health Awareness Week 🤍
A few things I wish I could tell my younger self… and maybe some of you needed to hear them too. You never really know what someone is carrying behind closed doors, so be kind always. Sending love to anyone struggling right now 🫶

it’s mental health awareness week, and i thought i’d talk about something i never have before. i don’t find it easy to talk about, but it is so so important.
i know when i felt so hopeless and so low, if people told me that things would get better or that i’d be okay, i found it so hard to believe. i felt as though because they hadn’t been in my brain, they didn’t understand. and i’m sure some people reading this post will have similar feelings.
but i need you to know that the reason you feel that way is because your mind wants to convince you that there really is no hope. that things are worth just giving up on. that nobody will ever understand. that it’s one thing for others to get better and to feel okay again but it just won’t work for you.
and i want to challenge that. because that is exactly how my brain used to work. that is exactly what i used to believe. and, though i’d have never believed it back then, i was wrong.
it will take time. it will not be easy. but it will be so worth it. getting better is always worth the fight.
you are so needed on this earth. so loved, so special. this world is a better place because you’re in it.
stay 💛

i know when i felt so hopeless and so low, if people told me that things would get better or that i’d be okay, i found it so hard to believe. i felt as though because they hadn’t been in my brain, they didn’t understand. and i’m sure some people reading this post will have similar feelings.
but i need you to know that the reason you feel that way is because your mind wants to convince you that there really is no hope. that things are worth just giving up on. that nobody will ever understand. that it’s one thing for others to get better and to feel okay again but it just won’t work for you.
and i want to challenge that. because that is exactly how my brain used to work. that is exactly what i used to believe. and, though i’d have never believed it back then, i was wrong.
it will take time. it will not be easy. but it will be so worth it. getting better is always worth the fight.
you are so needed on this earth. so loved, so special. this world is a better place because you’re in it.

it’s mental health awareness week, and i thought i’d talk about something i never have before. i don’t find it easy to talk about, but it is so so important.

#mentalhealthawarenessweek

This week marks 15 years since my grandad passed away, and as it’s #mentalhealthawarenessweek, I wanted to share some of the artwork he created in his spare time. He worked into his late 70s, so perhaps drawing and painting - like they are for me and so many others - were his form of escapism.
Losing someone close is something we all unfortunately go through, but everyone handles it differently. I was 15 when he died, and it came with a mix of emotions (alongside all the usual teenage stuff). As I’ve gotten older, I think the strongest feeling is that it’s a shame I never got to speak to him as an adult — about the artwork, or where I've sent prints to, and all of that stuff. Who knows, maybe he’d be experimenting with generative AI now instead of painting. Doubtful, but you never know.
It's important to have forms of escapism, whether that's hobbies, activities, or just relaxing. And it doesn't matter if you're 15, or 75. Whatever it is that puts you at ease. Do it!!
I just wanted to share some of his artwork that I keep on my office wall. I miss him, and I’ve been thinking about him a lot this week x

This is Nikeisha's story. Recently, she bravely shared her mental health journey with a group of MPs at our MP Champions event - a space where young people and MPs came together, united by their commitment to end the youth mental health emergency. Making a difference takes more than just listening to young people's lived experience. It's about turning those experiences into action. #mentalhealthawarenessweek
