I was raised on Nintendo 'Punch-Out' and Canibus' "Second Round K.O." and boxing bouts that were so brief they didn't warrant the PPV price tag. The big comeback and then the big bite and then the big reinvention. The face tat. The first 'Hangover.' Sat front row for the NY taping of his one-man show on HBO. Now I'm enjoying his next act as a podcaster and entrepreneur.

Mike Tyson has been an icon of the culture for my whole-ass life, and his metamorphosis in the public eye has been a sight to behold. Who could've predicted Iron Mike—once a paragon of strength, ferocity, agility, and the kind of threats that'd haunt your dreams—would grow into this wisened, mindful, zen-like figure who preaches peace and forgiveness?

You took me to my first concert (OutKast's Stankonia release event at Virgin Records—I can still feel the floor shaking beneath my feet!), and kept our room stacked with the latest albums/music mags and walls plastered with Hov and Redman and that one really big Memphis Bleek poster 😭. In short, you put me on. Just like a big sis 'posed to.

You didn't know it then, but all those times shaped me and helped me find my passion for words and music. Thrilled to celebrate the new @netflix film 'They Cloned Tyrone' and the men who were instrumental in its creation: @johnboyega @iamcharlesdking and director/co-writer Juel Taylor. (Peace to @iamjamiefoxx as well!) It's one of my favorites of the year, and very soon to be yours, too.

The vibes at this shoot were immaculate. John was all smiles, jokes, and positivity. A true professional and cool-ass dude, who, thankfully, is also photogenic as hell. (That suit tho!) I soaked up some game from the great @iamcharlesdking and connected with no-socials Juel for an impromptu karaoke sesh (final verse on "Aquemini" 🔥). That is one extremely intelligent dude. The vibes at this shoot were immaculate. John was all smiles, jokes, and positivity. A true professional and cool-ass dude, who, thankfully, is also photogenic as hell. (That suit tho!) Honored to celebrate @rashadbilal and @troymillings — better known as the co-founders of the financial literacy empire (yes, empire!) @earnyourleisure — as the stars of @levelmag's Winter 2023 digital cover!

It's been amazing to watch the run these two dudes have been on. What began as two childhood friends setting out on a mission to educate young people on personal finance has grown into a massively popular podcast network, the online subscription learning portal EYL University, a TV series on Revolt, conferences and speaking engagements around the world, and now, a LEVEL cover! 😅

I spoke with Rashad and Troy earlier this month about their global ambitions, meme stocks, memes about LLCs, the right time to write a will, the $500k vs. dinner with Jay-Z debate, and economic trends to watch in the new year. From the moment the end credits rolled on @blackafnetflix, one of my favorite 2020 pandemic watches, I knew a @levelmag sitdown with the one and only Kenya Barris (@kenyabarris) was so necessary. I loved the series’ unconventional spin on the mockumentary format, the way it explored Black affluence and parenting and relational dynamics. It was funnyAF, too.
