Yasmine Hamdan joined us with her musicians for an intimate performance of two songs from her latest album ‘I Remember I Forget بنسى وبتذكر’ — a deeply personal exploration of memory and identity.  

A pioneering Lebanese singer-songwriter, Yasmine Hamdan moves effortlessly between tradition and experimentation, with voice, electronics and the hypnotic pull of the qanoun.  

Filmed for the very first time, ‘Mor ر الت’ and ‘Hon هون’ unfold with a new kind of closeness — subtle, grounded, quietly powerful.

An album that felt necessary from the very first listen, and even more so now. This whole adventure was a true team effort, built with care alongside Hamdanistan, @kwaidan_records and @pias_france 💌 💌

The Prix Joséphine is a rare one in France: no genre categories, artists judge artists, on the album alone. Means a lot to see this one in the selection !

Releasing new music nowadays is no small feat, so congrats to every artist and team in that selection. Turns out we're all a bit mad, but great company to be in :)

On June 8th, in response to the current crisis unfolding in Lebanon, Yaraka Radio is hosting a 12-hour live broadcast fundraiser in solidarity with Lebanon featuring @djharam @hypergal__ @marylou.dj @metroalmadina @modelactriz @moormother @nabihahiqbal @snakeskinmusic @yasminehamdan @z.nawfal

All donations will go directly to @beitelbaraka, providing emergency aid, housing, and support to displaced families across Lebanon.

“For me, singing in Arabic has always been a political act. When I first started doing it, it really wasn’t fashionable at all. In fact, in the beginning people criticized the way I sang Arabic, they felt I wasn’t doing it “properly,” and that upset quite a few people. But I felt that I had to push through that.

Arabic music is extraordinary, but if I wanted to be sincere, I couldn’t pretend that I came exclusively from that culture. I come from multiple cultures that nourish me. National borders are not something that interests me very much.”
