Huge Congratulations to the B&N Children’s & YA Book Award Winners!

Picture Book Winner goes to X. Fang for “Broken”
: A strikingly illustrated story about a young girl called Mei Mei who breaks something that is quite valued. It’s told from her perspective as she deals with the anxiety and guilt of it.

Young Readers Winner goes to Peter Burns for “The School for Thieves”: A imaginative adventure following a street pickpocket who gets recruited into a secret boarding school in the Alps. It’s part of a series that also includes “Island of Skulls”.

Young Adult Winner goes to Jessica Walker for “The Secret Astronomers” : A unique multimedia novel told through secret notes and doodles that were left inside a library textbook by two teens who don’t have access to the internet or phone service.

Mother's Day is today and my birthday is tomorrow. As I enter my 41st year on earth and celebrate my 3rd mother's day, I will grieve the loss of collagen, complain endlessly about my aches and pains, and feel so immensely grateful for all the people in this chaotic life with me.
