Back at it again with Factotum… and honestly I don’t know how we got here but it feels so right. This show has taken so many twists and turns over the years, but we’re bringing a brand new version of The Factotum: The Groom and Glow Lounge to our high school @govschool2. Being back at the place where it all started makes this one really special. Building this with @djkingrico and these students has been so fulfilling.

This version, which leans more towards a contemporary musical with operatic elements, really lives in its own lane. It was a major grind to rebuild, but the payoff already has been a joy after working with these amazing students last week. We’re so lucky to have @donovanemitchell directing, a fellow GSA alum we went to school with, which makes this even more special. A huge thank you and shoutout to Shelly Milam for giving us this opportunity.

It’s now set in Hampton Roads, which is home and where it belongs. Hampton Roads come out and experience some barbershop and beauty salon magic May 1 and 2!

Grammy Award-winning opera singer Will Liverman joins us today to get the party started for the 20th Anniversary of the Ellie Caulkins Opera House! Will Tory try to sing? I’ll give you one guess…

This post is a late, but I really wanted to highlight the incredible work of the @sphinxorg for giving us the space to share highlights from our original Chicago Factotum. It was such a joy to perform with the phenomenal Sphinx Symphony Orchestra and to be back on stage with my brother and co composer @djkingrico and the singular and spectacular @melodybettspage.

Factotum has been an ongoing journey for the past eight years. Still insane to think about how the musical ideas we created in the studio have shifted and grown into something we would’ve never predicted. We’ve taken some W’s and L’s along the way as we’ve continued to learn, but every step has been worth it. This project has changed the way I see music, storytelling, and what I’m called to offer as an artist for however long I get to do this. Thank you Sphinx and to everyone who made SphinxConnect possible this year. Special shoutout to @silvursmiles for leading so beautifully!
