INTRODUCING ULTRAVIOLET

Ultraviolet aka UV showcases a broad range of styles and sounds, displayed in his productions and even more so in his club sets. Syncopated grooves and vivid soundscapes bind them together throughout, weaving old and new global influences from dub & jungle to house, electro & techno into a boundary-pushing, but cohesive package. This was on full display with his most recent ‘Telluria’ EP, released on Melbourne-based label Racquet Club. 

UV’s previous releases span many of NZ’s best electronic music labels, including Echo Train, Club Unique & The Big Fresh Collective. Since 2016, UV has performed across NZ in some of the country’s best clubs and parties, supporting countless world-class DJ’s such as Objekt, Madam X, K-Lone & Facta, Bailey Ibbs, TSVI and Midland, making many appearances at Flux and others in Otautahi/Christchurch, before recently relocating to Te Whanganui-a-Tara/Wellington.

We’ve had a ripper year, so we’re wrapping it up with a ripper lineup. We’re excited to welcome back PHASMID, who joined us earlier this year with 4AM Kru, and we can’t wait for him to boss it up with a headline set. Hailing from the UK underground, Phasmid blends dark, hypnotic textures with driving rhythms, creating immersive sets that push electronic music into uncharted territory.

He will be joined by Taipan Trax label mate and local powerhouse UNWELL, Big Fresh and Echo Train alumni and electro extraordinaire ULTRAVIOLET, rising star VITAMIN COS, a purveyor of high energy club music, and finally a lovely Irishman who rips it on the decks by the name of JOTA.

Not only that, but we’ve brought in the big guns for this one, with FURTHER SOUND running things with the BANSHEE SOUNDSYSTEM. Expect that thunder you all know and love as we round off the year in proper Shellington fashion.

‘e2’ is the most whimsical offering, conjuring up imagery of a toxic waste laboratory evocative of the EP title. Relentless breakbeat chops and a bubbling synth sequence are circled by a fizzy reese-saw for an immersive and disorienting experience. Closing out the release is ‘Transfusion Module’; an absolute peak-time bush doof weapon guaranteed to leave even the most seasoned ravers satisfied.

Ultraviolet/UV brings forward many styles in his music, and even more so in his club sets. Syncopated grooves and vivid soundscapes bind them together throughout, with wide global influences from Dancehall & Jungle to Electro & Techno. This was on full display with his debut ‘Aqua Pura’ EP releasing on Parisian label High Digital in 2019. Ultraviolet’s most recent releases include compilation contributions to Monstart, Feeling Blue Studios, Echo Train Records, as well as Aotearoa’s No.1 160bpm crew - The Big Fresh Collective. UV has performed across NZ in some of the country’s best clubs and parties, making many appearances at Flux and others in Otautahi/Christchurch since 2017, before recently relocating to Te Whanganui-a-Tara/Wellington.

Corner Store is very excited to invite you to our first night in the basement @b.space.club, featuring Porcelain, Ultraviolet, 3TC and SPAM.

Ultraviolet is an established producer and DJ originally hailing from Ōtautahi, now residing in our nation’s great capital. He’s featured on labels such as Feeling Blue, Echo Train Records, and the Big Fresh Collective, generally providing a well-crafted and unique perspective on House, Techno, UK Bass and Footwork.

Porcelain is a Pōneke DJ who’s quickly made a name for herself due to her incredible Jungle sets, recently opening for Doc Scott and being a regular feature in the local scene.

Corner Store co-founders 3TC and SPAM are opening and closing the night respectively. 3TC has just released his debut album, and is looking forward to opening up with eclectic House, Jazz, and Dub. SPAM also provides the visuals and is looking forward to closing out with some deep dubs.
