It’s been a hot minute since I‘ve had the chance to work with one of my fav artists and collaborators, @angelinearmstrongxx and @telenovaofficial, so I feel like an extra lucky boy this time round to co-direct, DOP and work in art department on this project.
We managed to almost entirely use built sets and in-camera effects for the set-ups on this project, with very little VFX. Such a pleasure to deep-dive creatively with @angelinearmstrongxx and the production design team on this 🫶🏻

My instagram stories for a long time have been not just a way to share my life but more so both a means of creative expression and a way to keep a visual diary for myself in my highlights - to remember details and feelings of past moments, many of which will eventually fade to time and experience. Many stories I don’t highlight and only exist for 24 hrs before being lost to the Instagram story-cycle ether. So when Claudia reached out earlier this year to use some of these stories for a final hurrah music video for @holyholymusic before they went on an indefinite hiatus, I couldn’t say no.
‘So Be It’ turned into a cathartic project for me as the footage was collated from the past 6 or so years of my life from various iPhones in various weird little corners of the world I’ve been fortunate enough to explore. It features both total strangers and a many people in my life that I care for deeply.
I know I’m biased because I’m inherently connected to this video emotionally, but watching it makes me want to hug my family and tell all my friends I love them. It stirs feelings of both happy nostalgia at moments past, and melancholic awareness of the inevitable passing of time, how we spend it, and who we spend it with. Hopefully it can make you feel something too 🫶🏻
