Strengthening Communities and Growing Washington’s Economy

Commerce was proud to attend the ribbon cutting for Voices Of Tomorrow’s Center for Learning and Healing, a new facility providing early learning and behavioral health services for families.
The incredible team at @voices_of_tomorrow are doing exceptional community work and have created a beautiful space in Tukwila.
Our Early Learning Facilities program supported the project with $2.5 million in grant funding to support the purchase of an old office building and all major construction improvements needed to ensure the facility is fully operational for childcare services.
The grand opening celebration included several guests and speakers, including Gov. Bob Ferguson, Sen. Claire Wilson, Department of Children, Youth, and Families Secretary Tana Senn, and Dr. Jamalia Jones from King County’s Best Starts for Kids.
Congratulations to CFO Iftin Hagimohamed, CEO Zamzam Mohamed, and the entire VOT team!

This latest round of 96 awards builds on earlier momentum, including $16.8 million for tribal clean energy projects announced in April. Together, that brings total investment to $77.2 million supporting 118 projects statewide.
These projects are helping expand access to clean energy statewide, advance innovative energy systems, and strengthen Washington's electric grid.

This microgrid project in Spokane's East Central neighborhood is more than infrastructure. It’s a resilience hub designed with and for the community it serves.
Through partnerships between @AvistaUtilities, the MLK Community Center and Commerce, this space will provide a safe place for residents during power outages and extreme weather events.
From conversations about food storage to long-term energy resilience, this project reflects what’s possible when communities, utilities and state partners work together.

What does Washington’s Climate Action Plan mean for you?
• Lower energy costs
