Neighbors helping neighbors—that's what community looks like.
Over the last few weeks, Habitat volunteers completed two aging-in-place home repair projects to help local homeowners remain safe, comfortable, and independent in the homes they love.
🏡 In Acme, volunteers repaired and replaced the underpinning and an access panel for a homeowner.
🏡 In Maple Falls, volunteers built a deck railing and handrail to improve safety and accessibility.
These projects are about more than repairs—they help homeowners live safely in place, maintain independence, and continue building memories in the homes they cherish.
Project made possible by a grant from AARP, with funding support from Microsoft. We're grateful for their support in helping make projects like these possible.
Thank you AARP Livable Communities!
Thank you to every volunteer who gave their time, skill, and heart to serve our community. Your work is creating safer homes—and stronger neighborhoods—for everyone. 💙💚

Since 1999, Whirlpool Corporation has partnered with Habitat for Humanity organizations around the world to help turn houses into homes. From kitchens to laundry rooms, their support goes beyond construction—making spaces functional, comfortable, and truly livable.
Over the years, that partnership has spanned more than 50 countries and resulted in over 260,000 major appliance donations to Habitat homes worldwide. It’s a long-standing commitment that continues to make a real difference for families every day.
That partnership now spans more than 50 countries and has led to over 260,000 major appliance donations to Habitat homes worldwide.
Here in Whatcom County, we saw that impact firsthand this week. Whirlpool delivered appliances for two local Habitat families whose homes were impacted by last December’s flooding—saving thousands of dollars and helping ease the burden as they rebuild.
Moments like this show what’s possible through strong partnerships.
We’re celebrating what it means to open the door to affordable homeownership. Because when we work together—partners, volunteers, and community—we don’t just build houses, we open doors to stability, opportunity, and a place to call home. 🚪💙
Thank you, Whirlpool, for helping us open doors together. #OpenTheDoor #HomeIsTheKey
