➡️You only need 10 valid signatures to get on the ballot.

When we organize on the neighborhood level we can uplift the power of people’s movements city wide.

Hear from @will4pa, 2nd Ward Leader, about how his ward supported the No Arena movement to save Chinatown.

Read about how our coalition is fighting for democratic, open wards, with improved voter turnout in the @phillyinquirer

These block by block level local elections that usually struggle to bring in interested candidates on the ballot are now being infused with establishment money in order to protect the infrastructure of closed wards.

Without any change, our ward system functions only to rubber stamp Bob Brady endorsements rather than engaging the grassroots of the community and reflecting their political will.

You can be a part of transforming your ward into the reinvigorated Democratic party we need to fight back against fascist threats today.

Go to wardsthatwork.com/running to find the candidate for your block, and share with your network and community!

Tuesday was a massive victory for progressive working people’s power in the city. From the most local level committee person elections to statewide house and national congressional elections.

Our coalition partners and candidates understand that the work does not start or end with GOTV. We’ve been building this power for years and will continue to.

Not following or a member of @wardsthatwork @phillycpusa @phillydsa @reclaimphiladelphia or @riverwardsdems ? Join us in the continued fight to expand democracy, participation and representation of progressive working people in Philly politics.

Last night, not only did Rep Rabb win big— our members running with @wardsthatwork for committee person won as well!

The committee person is a lesser known but incredibly important position, where the responsibility is informing our neighbors about upcoming elections and the candidates running in them.

We didn’t run fix or reform the Democratic Party. We ran because our neighbors deserve to hear working class perspectives on important democratic issues!

The Debbie Amis Bell Club doesn’t sit idly by while democracy is stripped away and corporate politicians turn a blind eye. We get our hands dirty, we build unity, we fight for the working class!

Forward! Forward! Forward! Not one step back!

Thank you to all our Ward 25 neighbors who showed up yesterday (despite the high temps) to select Lohit (@lmyneedu) and me to represent our division and ward as committee people in the Democratic Ward Executive Committee. Your civic engagement and enthusiasm for a more accountable, transparent, and inclusive ward is inspiring. We've had so many great conversations with our neighbors while canvassing and outside the polls on election day, and are excited to serve our community.

A special thank you to my partner, Morgan, who has been shouldering a greater share of parenting and household duties these past few weeks/months, so I could engage in canvassing and organizing. Your support made this possible.

Shout-out to Lohit and Raphael Castro (write-in candidate for CP in 25-07) for waiting with me outside our polling place for the results last night. And shout-out to Devon Brewer (write-in candidate for CP in 25-04) for also being part of our crew who spent ~14 hours outside on a 95 degree day engaging with our community.

Congratulations to all the @wardsthatwork and @reclaimphiladelphia backed candidates that won their races across Philly last night. Looking forward to putting in the work with you all! Thank you to @eric_of_philly for convincing me to run in the first place and to all the @riverwardsdems (in particular @probablykate) who have mentored us all through this process.

Finally, it was such a joy to enter a voting booth with my almost four year old daughter yesterday and have her push the button for "mommy" on the ballot. ❤️ Words can't describe what that meant to me (or what it might mean to her someday).

Election Day! TLDR: CHRIS RABB for PA-03! Sierra McNeil for 195! Chris Johnson for 200! YES to BOTH Ballot questions!

Elections are not the work, but we can make them work for us! 💪🏽

Whatever you believe about electoral politics, something amazing is happening on the ground in Philly right now—the outloud rejection of establishment Dems at every level points to the frustration folks feel, and the hope we have!

You know I am NOT interested in making New Democrats. If Corey Booker asks me to ‘chip in’ to a bold vision one more time!…🤮 I learned the hard way that electoral politics often defang our movements, and disorient our people—conflating struggle and solidarity with pouring energy into politicians instead of PEOPLE every six months.

That said, so many of us are bought into, fast asleep at the wheel in our work against violence- We gotta wake up, reach for them, and show them what is possible! With all the relentless legislative attacks on marginalized folks, it helps to move folks oriented with our values into position as we fight—together!—for more.

Today we REJECT AIPAC and candidates who are unqualified to serve a real vision for Philly! People seeking the *most* secure electoral seats in our city with the *least* imagination have NO BUSINESS representing us!

Today we ELECT someone who uses their position to stand between us and state violence, an abolitionist who’s been in the street with us when the legislature locks its doors; who is willing to fail and fail better, who shares our vision for a world beyond genocide, prisons and austerity—and will fight for it.

I am so excited to vote for my friend @chrisrabb!

And I know Sierra McNeil’s gonna oust Keith Harris in 195! Chris Johnson too! I’m energized by the folks pushing into uncontested seats to shift power! You can scan the QR code and get @reclaimphiladelphia and @wardsthatwork ballot guides for your Division! Once they’re in, they can expect me to be a nuisance!

So let’s go. If you stop showing up once you post your ‘I Voted!’ sticker selfie, you got bigger problems with me 😤 Vote for someone deserves a better world—then move like you mean it!

Drink water! 🤟🏽 Keep going.

Wards that Work is a coalition to build the Democratic Party we need from the bottom up. We are building wards that demand more for our communities, wards that do the work, that practice solidarity, that are transparent and democratic.

We know real change doesn’t come from above. That’s why we are committed to supporting what it really takes: ordinary people all over Philadelphia stepping up to organize their communities.
