1 YEAR post-surgery update: This little paw still *always* hurts and that’s just how it is. But it works! Not the way it used to — there are some things it just can’t do anymore because there are certain ways it just can’t move. The synthetic bits and bobs they rebuilt it with feel strange, but they’re part of me now and always will be. Decorating it has been empowering. And I still have moments — brushing my hair, buttering toast, I’m left-handed so pretty much everything — when I’m smacked upside the head with gratitude, remembering how I could do none of those things not so very long ago. I still need shoulder surgery but we’re not talking about that right now 🙃 and of course there are the herniated disc, TBI effects... But actually, the most important thing about this one-year-post-surgery check-in is not how my body is healing after the car crash. It’s how my heart, soul, and mindset have been healing. And the answer to that is, resoundingly: exponentially, undeniably, immeasurably, and perpetually. 💖🙌
