I want to let you all in on the process behind my most recent project
For the longest time I had wanted to explore darkroom printmaking (being self taught I always had resentments never learning the basics of my craft). When @zoelukov graciously offered me a studio residency at @wsanyc I decided to turn it into a makeshift darkroom and create a series of works for my show in @asmundarsalur with @miles.greenberg
The goal was to explore the idea of intimacy on a grand scale, to capture a fleeting moment of an encounter with a group of people and etch it into a life size portrait. So I decided that the best approach would be to make Photograms (it’s a camera-less process where a flicker of light imprints the subjects directly onto photosensitive paper).
So basically… I was creating a darkroom inside a darkroom.
