When my friend Satoshi introduced me to Arruda, Alfazema e Guiné, the latest LP by @alvarolancellotti I was immediately stepped into his universe. His voice, his phrasing, the atmosphere of his music : everything felt unique and inspiring. At the time, I was already working on my own record, so I decided to reach out and send him a track, hoping he might be interested in collaborating. He replied very kindly, saying that if the music spoke to him, he’d be happy to try something. A few days later, I received a voice message from him: he was playing the track and singing over it on his phone. From the very first listen, it felt completely right. Later on, from his studio in Lisbon, where he now lives, he recorded three beautiful parts for the piece: two vocal takes — one of them incredibly high, almost feminine, along with a guitar line. Everything blended naturally into the music. When I:Cube mixed the track, I asked him to push that higher voice into something more psychedelic, almost like an echo from the Tropicalia era in Brazil during the late 1960s. I also programmed a light drum pattern around the percussion recordings by the Pimentel family father and son, @jugglingpercussion who appear throughout L’école de la nuit. This track is the first extract from the LP L’école de la nuit, which will be released on 15/6 on @versatile_rec records and @waswordandsound distro.
Vinyl is on preorder and will ship 10 days ahead the release date.
In the meantime, Hà Mar is already available on all streaming platforms. And thanks to @fipradio for selecting the album for their July playlist and to @_ruddy_aboab_ for being an attentive listener over the years.

Initiated in Amsterdam, restarted from scratch in Paris, this record marks my return home and will be released on 15/6 on @versatile_rec records thru @waswordandsound
L’école de la nuit explores many genres and has welcomed many guest comrades on its benches.

2025 has been a very quiet year for us. We took time to reflect on what we wanted to say and release after 30 years — yes, 2026 is our birthday. We always stayed true to our feelings, guided by our hearts and love of music.We’ll celebrate in our own way in 2026 . Stay stuned. After the quietest year comes the busiest one: if all goes well, six albums will be released, including a new I:Cube album and one of my own. @etiennejaumet opens the dance with Du cortex à l’iris,his new album out 06/03/26 via @wordandsound.
