Common Ground with @__leasimon
This @berlindesignweek, VELT Studio opens its doors — and its walls — to the people who make it what it is.
Last but not least: Lea Simon
An art director working at the intersection of image, film, and space. Trained in fashion, working across disciplines - directing and curating with a focus on connection, building exhibitions and formats that make room for bodies and stories that dominant aesthetics tend to overlook. A feminist perspective runs through everything she does.
At Common Ground she presents Mean Goddess - SPIT. A cinematic strike - part fashion film, part ritual, part fuck-you. A message to the patriarchy.
See the film at Common Ground.

Common Ground with @adilya.zhumabayeva
This @berlindesignweek, VELT Studio opens its doors — and its walls — to the people who make it what it is.
VELT is 120 people from everywhere. This is one of their stories.
Next up: Adilya Zhumabayeva.
An artist and fashion designer born and raised in Kazakhstan, whose culture, roots, and mythology remain a permanent part of everything she creates. Through her label KIELI, Adilya builds emotional and narrative worlds through clothing, storytelling, and image-making - exploring memory, transformation, and personal mythology.
At Common Ground she presents two works: MOLT (2026) is the first fragment from the KIELI universe, an immersive fashion installation exploring emotional awakening inside an artificial world. MOLT is about the moment something living begins to break through emotional numbness, reminding us that human emotions were never meant to be simplified, controlled, or aesthetically perfect.
See her work in person at Common Ground.

This @berlindesignweek, VELT Studio opens its doors - and its walls - to the people who make it what it is.
Emma Thoma provides another reason to hang out in our museum shop.
Emma's label @plan__e is built on the idea of saving existing materials from going to waste. Old tarps from festivals, events, and construction sites get a second life as backpacks, fanny packs, wallets, and more. As the materials are cut and rearranged, their graphics and patterns take on an entirely new form - making every product a unique piece.

Common Ground with @arnegrugel
This @berlindesignweek, VELT Studio opens its doors - and its walls - to the people who make it what it is.
A space where 120 creatives work, make, and now - (some of them) show.
Next up: Arne Grugel.
A contemporary German photographer renowned for his mastery of analog multiple exposure techniques - striking, surreal images created entirely without digital tools. Time and masses emerge, reflecting a sense of inactivity and power. These masses must be broken through and used in order to connect with them. They are offering insights into the foundations of existence. The result is a carefully designed dualism. Not only in creation, but also in perception, time plays a decisive role.

Next up: Valentin Heinrich.
A 3D artist based in Berlin, Valentin is showing In Case I Forget - a small, quiet short film that grew out of the process of letting go of a place he once called home. The film lives in an emotional space between longing and gratitude, between holding on and letting go.

Common Ground with @gandy.cc
This @berlindesignweek , VELT Studio opens its doors - and its walls - to the people who make it what it is.
Common Ground is a group exhibition emerging from our own creative cosmos. Usually a co-working space and production hub for designers, photographers, architects, and artists, the space itself becomes the exhibition body - 500 square metres, 120 members, one community. Photography, sculpture, illustration, and more, all under one roof. All made by the people who call this place home.
First up: Gregory Gandy.
An all-disciplines artist based in Berlin, Gregory has been making things happen since 2005 - feature films, museum exhibitions, music festivals, thousands of publications. Rooted in the DIY movement, he’s spent 20+ years building independently, connecting creatives across the world with businesses, non-profits, governments, and cultural institutions. The kind of person who makes the whole ecosystem run a little better just by being in it.
