Honoring the Legacy of an Artist who waged an epic war against STAGE 4 COLON CANCER!
RIP Justin Bartlett 1/9/2023. 💕🐐
#goatlord #vberkvltforever

Hello, KVLT PLANET. This is Justin’s sister, Ash. With profound sadness, I’m announcing that Justin Dale Bartlett passed away peacefully in his sleep early this morning after his lengthy battle with Stage IV Colon Cancer. (1/9/2023) 💕🐐
Justin spent his last few days surrounded by family, his close friends, and his angel of a girlfriend. He knew he was loved.
I want everyone to know that he literally FOUGHT this cancer until the end. He never, EVER gave up. Just last night as I was laying next to him and rubbing his back, he told me that this sudden decline was only a set back, and that he would feel better soon.
The last couple years were a struggle for Justin, to say the least. But… He’s finally at peace. With sincerest gratitude, I want to thank everyone who checked in on Justin, coordinated fundraisers for him, and donated funds. Memorial/funeral announcements will come soon.
If you have fond memories of Justin, please share them in the comments. I’d love to read them. I’ll also be reposting tagged posts in his Stories.
(Donations will go toward funeral expenses. GoFundMe Link in Justin’s bio)

Hi, everyone. Justin was just about to launch this rad blanket before he passed away. All proceeds will go toward his memorial fund, a legacy artwork book (looking into companies), AND a small grant fund for artists, as Justin often mentored new & upcoming artists. -Ash
“GOAT II” blanket announcement from Justin:
Wanted to send some big hugs … err wait, I mean UNHOLY HAILS to you VBERKVLT MANIAXE. It means a lot to me to share my artwork with people around the world. With that being said I’m excited to share a long-awaited project. I’m finally launching my VBERKVLT “Goat II” blanket with my friends at Deathwish.
The thought of putting my artwork on blankets is still pretty funny to me but I’m really happy with how these turned out!
What do you think? 🐐💨😵

Hello, KVLT MANIAXE! This is Justin’s sister, Ash. Justin’s memorial service will be open to the public. I set the date for Sunday January 22nd at 11am, at “El Cajon Mortuary” in Southern California. Tons of parking is available but carpooling is still heavily recommended.
684 South Mollison Avenue
El Cajon, CA 92020
Since Justin wanted a completely natural out-of-town burial, there will be no viewing at the memorial. I’ll be the MC because Justin would burst into flames if we had a Pastor or Priest leading his memorial service. 🔥✝️🔥(In other words, he wouldn’t be super happy about that!)
We want to honor his legacy by showing some of his artwork, a slideshow of photos from his life set to a specially curated playlist of some of Justin’s favorite songs, and you’ll have an opportunity to share your stories/fond memories afterward. Please let me know if you want to say something at the memorial.
If you plan to attend please contact me via DM on here and/or say so in the comments. I’m attempting to get a headcount. I’ll also create a Facebook event page on Monday with more information and share that link on here.
Regarding sending/bringing flowers— Justin LOVED plants, and we’ll be using those as decor rather than flowers.
If you’re unable to attend, you’ll still be able to sign a virtual guest book which will go live next week.
Please consider donating to his GoFundMe (link in bio), as mortuary costs are extremely expensive. We’re also taking care of his kitty Dio, keeping his webstore/website going, and working on a legacy art book project for Justin. 💕🐐
I’m trying to take care of as much as I can as to not put any more stress on our elderly parents. They’re absolutely heartbroken and shouldn’t have to handle planning this. 💔
As always, massive gratitude goes out to everyone who’s helped support Justin and his artwork over the years. It means a lot to me.

Happy birthday, Justin. 🦠 Today, Mom and I will go to one of your favorite coffee shops, then see a Star Wars movie in your honor. We’re still deciding where we want to have lunch- something healthy and protein rich, of course. Like you would’ve suggested! We love you and miss you so, so, so much. —Justin’s Sister, Ash

1/9/2026 marks 3 long years without the amazing artist, son, brother, partner, mentor, and friend— Justin Bartlett. Our homes are filled with photos of Justin, his framed artwork, and cool memorabilia that he collected. Not a day goes by that we aren’t reminded of him, in one way or another. The impact of the loss is still very much with us. 💔
Again, I want to send a heartfelt thank you and my gratitude to Justin‘s friends/fans/bands and productions he worked for, and people who have collected his artwork over the years. I know the support was incredibly important to Justin! VBERKVLT FOREVER. 🐐 -Ash

LOCRIAN The Crystal World: 15th Anniversary Remaster LP
Celebrating 15 years since its original release, The Crystal World returns in a definitive reissue, marking a turning point in the sonic legacy of Locrian. Comprised of André Foisy, Terence Hannum, and Steven Hess, the trio has carved a path at the crossroads of drone, noise, ambient, and metal — a sound that resists genre and reverberates with emotional weight. The Crystal World marked a transformative chapter where abstraction gave way to narrative—not just for Locrian, but for the broader experimental music landscape. Reissued with intention and care, this recording returns not simply as a document of a band in metamorphosis, but as a timeless, immersive artifact—one that continues to refract new light with each listen.

It would’ve been Justin’s 47th birthday today. Last year for his birthday, just a few short months after his passing, we drove out to his gravesite in Joshua Tree National Park to adorn it with more plants, crystals, and decor.
This year was a bit less solemn and more celebratory of Justin’s personality. We recalled memories and funny stories as we visited a few of his regular spots in San Diego.
Stop #1: Sheldon’s Station was one of Justin’s favorite breakfast spots. He’d often call us at 6-7am on a Sunday to invite us to join him. You’ll see a photo of me, my husband, and Justin standing out front, followed by a photo from today.
Stop #2: Birch Aquarium at Scripps Institute. Justin and his girlfriend Lauren had memberships to Birch Aquarium and visited there OFTEN. Sometimes Justin even went there on his own to have some quiet time. You’ll see his last photo at the aquarium, followed by a photo of me from today. Our mom told me that Justin always thought he would pursue a career in Marine Biology… we can still enjoy our interests without turning them into a career, right?
Stop #3: Kai Ola Sushi. Speaking of fish— Justin liked to eat them. We ended the day by having a late lunch at one of his favorite spots. I’m certain Justin would’ve ordered something far more adventurous than we ate, and I can almost hear him “tsk’ing” or even shaking his head at us for being lame and ordering a Rainbow roll.
Special note: We also stopped by his favorite record store @reanimatedrecords twice last week. 💚🖤
There are so many more things I would’ve loved to have done today— like visit Balboa Park, a few museums or galleries, shop the San Diego Swapmeet, taken the Coaster somewhere up north, and went on a hike. But we absolutely wanted my mom to be there, and there are just some things she can’t do at this point.
Justin, I often sit and look at photos or videos of you, and listen to the funny or heartfelt voice messages you left me. I still can’t wrap my head around the fact that my big brother is gone… and maybe I never will. Thank you for being so cool, and trying to shape me into your “mini-me,” as you affectionately called me. I love you. Happy birthday. 🐐💔

VBERKVLT FOREVER. 1/9 marks one year since we lost Justin. 💔 My heart aches as I reflect on the memories of that night we spent together, filled with laughter, reminiscing, and relaxation. But then, in the early morning, as I returned to his room, I discovered that he had passed away. It’s difficult to put into words the depth of sorrow I feel.
I want to extend my heartfelt condolences to Justin’s friends, Susan, Tyler, and Edge, who cared for him in the days leading up to his passing. I also want to acknowledge the immense effort our elderly parents put into looking after Justin, despite my father’s own declining health.
Another angel in Justin’s life was his longtime girlfriend, Lauren, who devoted many days to taking care of him before his departure. It feels as though he held on until she left, finally finding the peace to let go.
In this time of remembrance, my thoughts are with all those who loved Justin and were touched by his presence. May his memory live on, and may we find solace in the love and support we share with one another. 💕🐐💕
