Going through some old work I found this one I made during a residency in Tuscany. I was walking through what I was told that morning was an Etruscan path to get to an olive tree field. It was summer, noon, and it was very hot. While walking around, I heard a loud, low-pitched hum. I started walking faster to get further away from it. I started running, and the horsefly followed me through the field and later the Etruscan path. As soon as I set foot on the pavement of the main road, the horsefly went back. I called him an Etruscan soldier, as if protecting the land against unfamiliar faces.
