@wheelliferally The Start of an EUC race is one of the best examples of why repetition counts. The goal is to remove decision making. At slow speeds in practice everyone can mount the wheel and get there foot into the footholds. But race starts are different because your brain is overloaded. Adrenaline spikes, riders are moving beside you, noise and pressure increase, your thinking about the first corner, heart rate jumps, timing matters. When that happens your brain falls back to whatever is truly automatic. If foothold placement is not completely wired into muscle memory riders start searchingfor footholds, placing the foot to shallow, over correcting balance, looking down, missing pedal engagement and hesitation on the throttle.
