Album and Tshirt designs I’ve made for Ursa. For our debut album, I wanted to make something that stood out from the typical black and white color schemes you’d see from other local bands. I also wanted to steer away from something gore-y, I feel that we aren’t that kind of band. We cared more about the joy and freedom that came with performing than putting forward an image that wasn’t true to us. The cowgirl, and Wild West imagery spoke to that feeling; someone who pursues their own life path despite what greater society might want from them. Someone who can smile wide and free despite life’s hardships. Real cowgirls in the Wild West were few and far between, they often faced scrutiny for defying gender norms despite being hardworking happy people. I see cowgirls in a lot of the people I meet. -emo mastershake
