🐝 The contest is now closed 🐝 Let’s hear it for the bees! The rooftop beekeeping initiatives on all three #UofT campuses help boost education about the importance of bees, contribute to local food production and foster community. It’s all part of a broader approach to supporting pollinators on campus, alongside pollinator gardens that help create habitat and resources for native bees, honeybees, butterflies and more.

This is just one of the many ways U of T prioritizes sustainability – and part of why we’ve been ranked among the world’s top two universities for sustainability for the past four years. 🌎

Want to taste campus-made honey? We’re giving away two jars of honey from UTSC’s hives.

TO ENTER:
1. Like this post and follow @uoftalumni, @uoft, @utscfood, @uoftbees and @utmhospitality on Instagram
2. Tag a #UofT friend who’d enjoy learning about this buzz-worthy initiative 🐝

Enter before 11:59 p.m. EST on April 28, 2026, for a chance to win. The winners will be chosen using a randomizer and announced right here on the post. Winning recipients will receive their prize by domestic mail.

RULES/DISCLAIMER: This contest is open to all University of Toronto students, staff, faculty and alumni from all three campuses who reside in Canada. 🐝Hive Tour Recap!🐝

Today we teamed up with the University of Toronto Outing Club (@utoc_club) for an look inside our hives! 🌸🍯

We started by going over our beekeeping gear including bee suits, smokers, and safety tips before getting a closer look into the hives. Together we explored the different hive boxes, spotted brood frames, and even checked out some honey in progress. Members also learned about the queen’s role and how the colony works together.

Huge thanks to everyone who came out and made this collab such a buzzing success 💛 Keep an eye out for future opportunities to see the bees!
