UNITE HERE endorses @tomsteyer for Governor of California
We are proud to announce our endorsement of Tom Steyer for governor of California. We represent sixty thousand workers in hotels, airports, universities, convention centers, and tribal casinos across this state.
From them, we hear how hard it is to support themselves and their families in the face of rising prices. We need a governor who is going to fight for affordable housing, tackle the crisis of unaffordable health care, fight Big Oil to stop rising prices at the gas tank, and resist the federal overreach around immigration enforcement.
Tom Steyer has pledged to do all those things while also investing in keeping union jobs strong. Tom has a track record of pushing for corporate accountability by championing environmental protections and limiting corporate influence in electoral politics.

So proud to share that I have received an endorsement by @uniteherel2 for my campaign to represent you as Richmond Mayor! Let’s continue making Richmond better for all! 💪❤️

Yesterday, workers, labor leaders, community organizations, and Mayor Barbara Lee gathered at Oakland City Hall for the “Oakland Is a Worker Town” Press Conference, to affirm and celebrate that workers are the backbone of Oakland’s economy, culture, and future. During this event, workers spoke about the realities they face on the job, including wage theft, unsafe working conditions, and ongoing efforts to organize for better pay and protections.
EBASE was proud to hold this event with other worker organizations, including @streetlevelhealthproject, @centro_legaldelaraza, @chineseprogressiveassociation, @seiu_usww, @uniteherel2, @oakland_ea, @seiu1021, Black Workers United, @mujeresunidasyactivas, and @allofusornone, ahead of International Workers’ Day on May 1. We all brought together day laborers, airport workers, hotel workers, care workers, educators, and service workers to uplift the power of organizing and demand stronger protections, enforcement, and investment in Oakland’s working class. Thank you to @mayorbarbaralee who stood alongside labor leaders and frontline workers in support of worker justice.
As the Mayor said “We have made important progress in Oakland by passing strong labor protections, but passing laws is not enough. We must ensure those laws are enforced so that no worker is subjected to wage theft, unsafe conditions, or exploitation. Workers deserve not just rights on paper, but justice in practice.”

President Trump’s “Big Beautiful Bill” offered huge tax breaks to the rich and to mega-corporations while making the largest cuts to healthcare in U.S. history. This is expected to remove up to 50,000 San Franciscans from their health insurance coverage (Medi-Cal).
San Francisco’s essential public services like General Hospital and Mental Health services, are losing nearly half a billion dollars in funding.
How can we protect our healthcare? Vote YES on Prop D on June 2nd!
Prop D is a fair, local solution that asks large corporations to contribute a little more without impacting small businesses, homeowners, and renters.
Prop D only applies to big corporations that have: over $1 Billion dollars in annual revenues, over 1,000 employees, and pay their CEO 100 times more than the median pay of their employees.
Prop D will raise roughly $300 million a year to safeguard essential services without raising prices for San Franciscans.
On June 2 vote YES on Prop D. Let’s protect care, not corporate greed.
