Après ses études à l’école de l’Opéra de Paris et la Palucca Hochschule für Tanz à Dresde, Ulysse Zangs intègre la Dresden-Frankfurt Dance Company où il danse des pièces de Jacopo Godani et William Forsythe avant de devenir freelance et renouer avec sa première pratique : la musique. Il développe son art à l’intersection du son et du mouvement et il est actuellement danseur/compositeur pour des pièces d’Ersan Mondtag, Benjamin Millepied, Dimitri Chamblas, Gustavo Gomes, Chris Fargeot et Simon Le Borgne.

sans trop nous connaître nous avions décidé
la veille que nous irions danser ensemble.
le studio était sombre et nous l’éclairions
très peu comme par timidité ou pour inviter plus facilement nos rêves
et nos mémoires de
danse… dans cette pénombre, je proposais à
ulysse de construire très rapidement une
structure
qui lui permettrait de traverser une chronologie de sa vie de danseur :
depuis l’enfance,
quand la danse entrait année après année dans son corps, en passant
par ses souvenirs
d’interprète, et aussi ses moments de prises de distance.
nous n’avions pas envie de débuter un long
process
mais plutôt de créer en accéléré
une danse immédiatement partageable. nous avions envie
d’intensité, de résultat immédiat
face à une exploration qui se serait voulu infinie. comme si nous
n’allions jamais nous
revoir mais que nous souhaitions créer quelque chose ensemble
avant de nous perdre.
cette danse est née de cela... une fulgurance,
un geste brut et fragile. c’est ce que l’on propose de partager avec vous ce soir.”

Un nouveau Carnet d’esquisses en mars avec Ulysse Zangs !

Danseur et musicien, Ulysse Zangs explore les intersections entre le son, le mouvement et la nature.
Sa pratique mêle improvisation et productions enregistrées.
 
Paris Dance Project est heureux de l’inviter jeudi 13 mars au Musée d’Orsay pour présenter Patterns.

Patterns prend la forme d’une conférence dansée où la batterie et la danse se rejoignent en un même langage. Deux pratiques physiques qui, depuis toujours, rythment le parcours d’Ulysse Zangs. Elles dialoguent ici à travers la répétition, la rupture et la transformation.
Les patterns (“motifs”) existent partout, dans la musique, le corps, la mémoire. Certains portent, d’autres enferment et Ulysse Zangs nous invite à naviguer entre ces structures, pour les détourner, les laisser évoluer. Le son devient alors geste, et le geste trace.
