hello! i wanted to show you the process of making the chainmail headpiece that’s featured on the cover, because i (seth) made it myself! and it took super long and i’m really proud of it (as you can tell by my stupid excited face in every video haha)

i started by winding the metal wire around an aluminium rod, you can see me do it by hand, but most of it i did by putting the aluminium rod into levi’s power drill, which was much faster :)
when you’re done winding, you get those spring looking things, which you then have to cut up into tiny little rings (this part i hated the most)
then, when you have a million little rings, you can start putting them together! i found out during this process that there is an almost endless amount of different chainmail weaves, which is pretty cool. i used a european 4-in-1 weave, because it’s relatively easy, doesn’t use rings of different sizes, and it looks like what i think of when i think of chainmail
from that point on it’s just going and going and going, i did this in the train, in the studio, on the couch watching twilight, after breakfast, just joining rings at any given time :)
i’ve never done this before, so i initially made it too small. i took it apart to make the crown piece bigger and then put it back together again, it was all trial and error..
this sunday we’re going to shoot the EP artwork where i’ll get to wear it again and then after that it’ll probably just become a statement piece in my wardrobe :]

Ondanks dat de hitlijsten de afgelopen jaren worden aangevoerd door vrouwen blijft de muziekwereld een mannenwereld. Hoog tijd dus dat GIGANT ook verantwoordelijkheid neemt en vrouwen een meer prominente plek biedt in het programma. Naast onze reguliere concerten, introduceerden we daarom vorig jaar het festival Zusterschap op Internationale Vrouwendag. Dit jaar vieren we deze dag opnieuw, in samenwerking met @femxlefrontier: een collectief dat zich inzet voor een gelijkere genderverdeling in de muziekindustrie. Op 8 maart check je in @gigant_cafe TRUT, CHATTERMAG en Dear Omen.
