Putting down the bottle till this day was one of the highest forms of freedom I’ve been able to accomplish. Unless you faced your addiction head on, it’s hard to understand the destruction it can have your life.

I have an addictive personality trait and once I recognized that I started doing my best to become addicted to enjoying life in itself without having to poison myself to do so.

I commend those who can have a drink or two and carry on with their life. Me, it seems like any 1 drop would have the potential to throw me off for weeks.

Going on 3 years sober and as I’m out here doing my best to continue being free. I very much enjoyed being able to share this piece on the Las Vegas strip.

Also want to shed light that Vegas became extremely fun to me when I stopped drinking and gambling.

Anywho. This is the pop up tour. No telling where or when I’ll be. But if you see me in your city. Say what up doe

I’ve been back on the road for the last 4 days, and I’m really trying my best not to pay attention to what’s in my rearview this time.

That’s easier said than done seeing how the things, people, and places I’ve encountered for the last 30 years help shape who I am today.

Where I’m going is only going to make sense if you know where I’ve come from.

I’ve done so much and there is still so much more to do when it comes to my life. I started realizing a few years ago it couldn’t get done sitting in Detroit.

The idea of wanting to build something monumental in your own backyard sounds good. And I’m not saying it can’t be done. But to tell the truth, I feel like I’ve hit a ceiling in my city.

There’s so much Detroit has to offer and so much I have yet to even present to it. But we need a break, we haven’t been able to see eachother for who we’re becoming because we’re still traumatized by who we were.

Not sure if I’m using the city as a parable for my old self, the poetry community, my family, my friends, my daughter’s mom, my business clients, my old business partners, shit even the actual city itself.Every pocket of life is too layered even keep track off these days.

But it’s time. It’s timeto stop running from the rest of the world. It’s time to evolve in a way I never thought was possible.

During this next 6 months I’m not pushing anyone or anything way. I’m just pulling myself as close and as hard as I can to the most high and what I’m being called to do.

And a part of that is sharing this journey with you guys from start to finish as authentically as I can.

So as stated. Bear with me, I know my hands are in a lot of different pockets and my communication isn’t always the best. But just like the rest of us, I’m a work in progress and I’m ready to share with you all the process.

In a span of a few hours a got my client together, did some yoga with @lexx.tha.yogi over at @motorcity_javahouse, got home and took a shower. Still with enough time to get up here to @greenroomsocialclub to prep for today’s event.

What’s the principle in the situation?

These days I been happy just doing the things that make me happy.

Many tears went into this book but I enjoyed the process throughly. Just as I’ve been enjoying the process of keeping true to the words I promised myself inside of it.

Just might cancel my schedule, curl up and read a good book.
