In Serbia, there’s a well-known saying connected to slava – the traditional family celebration of a saint’s day – which goes: ‘Na slavu se ne zove, na slavu se dolazi’ [You don’t invite people to a slava, people just come]. Years ago, before Pride, activists in Belgrade turned that phrase into a guerrilla street campaign by spraying a modified version across the city: 'Na Prajd se ne zove, na Prajd se dolazi.' [You don’t invite people to pride, people just come].
I loved that action because it used something deeply local instead of borrowing imported activist language. It played with tradition, humour and collective memory in a way people immediately recognized. I think that’s something very important: instead of rejecting local culture, we should learn how to engage with it creatively and critically. The most powerful communication often happens when people recognize themselves inside the message."

📚Predstavnici Evropske mreže za književnost i prevodilaštvo TRADUKI, Angelika Salvisberg i Andrej Lovšin, posjetili su JU KIC „Budo Tomović“, gdje su sa v.d. direktoricom mr Marijanom Zečević razgovarali o značaju međunarodne saradnje i povezivanja književne scene kroz savremene kulturne programe i inicijative.
◽️TRADUKI je evropska mreža za književnost i prevodilaštvo zasnovana na posredovanju u kulturi i afirmaciji principa „jedinstva u različitosti“. Pristupanjem Crne Gore ovoj mreži, domaćim piscima i prevodiocima omogućen je pristup brojnim programima podrške, među kojima su finansiranje prevoda beletristike, stručne literature i književnosti za djecu i mlade, kao i rezidencijalni programi i međunarodne razmjene.
Tokom sastanka predstavnici @traduki posebno su istakli značaj razvoja rezidencijalnih programa za autore, koji doprinose boljem položaju književnika, njihovom međunarodnom umrežavanju i podsticaju savremenog književnog stvaralaštva. Razgovarano je i o mogućnostima intenzivnije saradnje kroz književne programe, festivale i izdavačke aktivnosti koje afirmišu regionalnu i evropsku književnu scenu.
👉Uz zahvalnost na posjeti, v.d. direktorica mr Marijana Zečević istakla je važnost TRADUKI mreže u povezivanju aktera regionalne i evropske književne scene, naglašavajući da KIC „Budo Tomović“ kontinuirano radi na afirmaciji savremene književnosti i jačanju međunarodne kulturne saradnje. Posebno je predstavila KIC-ov regionalni književni festival LiTeritorija, koji već deceniju okuplja najznačajnija književna imena regiona, prepoznat prvenstveno po otvorenosti prema različitim poetikama, temama i savremenim književnim izrazima.
📕Barbara Delać ukratko je predstavila rad Foruma mladih pisaca KIC-a, književne grupe koja od 2015. djeluje pod okriljem ove ustanove. Govoreći i kao spisateljica, kao i iz ličnog iskustva saradnje sa TRADUKI mrežom, istakla je njen značaj kao važne podrške piscima, prevodiocima i savremenoj književnoj sceni u cjelini.
Tokom susreta obostrano je iskazano interesovanje za produbljivanje saradnje koja bi mogućnost za buduće zajedničke projekte i programe.

In der vierundvierzigsten Ausgabe meines listigen Literaturpodcasts unterhalte ich mich mit Lilian Peter. Sie wurde in München geboren und studierte dort noch während ihrer Schulzeit für einige Semester Klavier, später dann Philosophie und Musikwissenschaft in Wien, Tübingen und Heidelberg. Nach einem Studium am DLL und längeren Auslandsaufenthalten u. a. in Prag, Paris und New York, lebt sie heute als Schriftstellerin und Übersetzerin in Berlin.

Seit knapp zehn Jahren veröffentlicht Lilian Peter literarische Texte, 2022 erschien ihr Essayband „Mutter geht aus“ im Diaphanes Verlag. Ihre Neuübersetzung von Erica Jongs „Angst vorm Fliegen“ (Ecco Verlag, 2024) war für den Preis der Leipziger Buchmesse nominiert.

Im Podcast unterhalten wir uns über das Leben und Schreiben der jugoslawischen Autorin Dubravka Ugrešić (1949 – 2023), die lange Zeit als Nobelpreiskandidatin galt. Viele ihrer Texte – darunter der frühe feministische Kultroman „Des Alleinseins müde …“ (Štefica Cvek u raljama života, 1981) oder der einflussreiche Essayband „Die Kultur der Lüge“ (Kultura laži, 1996), der sich mit dem Zerfall Jugoslawiens und dem Erstarken von Nationalismus und Chauvinismus in der Region auseinandersetzt – sind auf Deutsch leider vergriffen.

Nun liegen jedoch gleich zwei neue Übersetzungen vor, mit denen man die herausragende Autorin (wieder-)entdecken kann: zum einen der Essayband „Europa in Sepia“ und zum anderen der späte Roman „Füchsin“. Beide Bücher wurden von Marie Alpermann übersetzt und sind im eta Verlag erschienen. Sie stehen im Mittelpunkt des Gesprächs mit Lilian Peter. Hört doch gern rein, so ihr mögt. Wir würden uns freuen.

📍 Literary Workshop with Nadya Radulova (Bulgaria)
📅 May 11th | 2–4 pm
✏️ Before it is ever read, literature is first heard. At its core is the voice - that liminal, most delicate and fleeting “organ” in our body. For two hours, let’s listen to our own voices and tune in to the sounds and textures around us. Because the world of intonation we inhabit - and continually create - is a kind of magical tool, not only for writing but for refining our own texts as well. And in learning to refine them, we stand a chance of coming to know ourselves more deeply.
The workshop consists of writing exercises with simple constraints that you can grasp immediately: you write, you share what you’ve written, you listen, you understand what has happened in the writing.
Eligibility
Open to journalists, writers, poets, screenwriters, bloggers, translators in Belgrade, 18 years of age and older.
📩If you want to apply for this workshop, please send an email with 1. fragment of a short story or fragment of a poem (one page) and 2. short bio to: jelena@gradbeograd.eu until May 10th at noon.
Entry Fee: Free
Workshop will be held at Grad Gallery (upstairs of KC Grad) with Nadya Radulova, Bulgarian writer and poet. Through collaborative and participatory methods, the workshop invites participants to explore voice, sound, and narrative as tools for both creative expression and self-reflection.
The workshop is organized within a residency program, supported by Traduki.
