The Office of Ordinary Things
TOOOT is a design and branding studio focused on sustainability, climate, and social good. 🌈☁️

Inspired by the life cycle of the deep-sea jellyfish capable of regenerating indefinitely, Immortal Jellyfish embodies circularity and transparency in both concept and form. Its first imagined product, the Shelf System 01 (SS01), uses infinitely recyclable, precision-cut aluminum panels to permanently display the details that are usually hidden or undisclosed: recycled content, care instructions, end-of-life plans, and even info like wages and profit distribution.
This vision study, a collaboration between TOOOT and PROWL, stands as a celebration of shared values, creative friendship, and a reminder that good design is honest design.
Are you a brand looking to push the envelope? Are you inspired by Immortal Jellyfish to adopt radical transparency into your business model? We’d love to chat.

We’re honored to have worked with @ourtimefornyc, a nonprofit that’s “building on the momentum of Zohran Mamdani’s campaign to deliver on the promise of a more affordable NYC.”
We recently did a sprint on the initial branding with Jeremy Freeman, Our Time’s executive director and frequent TOOOT collaborator (CarbonPlan, CDR Primer, CDRXIV). The goal of the brand is to play off of Zohran’s iconic campaign brand created by @designedbyforge, leaving room for the brand to evolve over time.
We’re looking forward to an exciting year ahead for NYC!

👁 NEW WORK 👁
Over the past year, we’ve had the honor of working with @contrastfoundry on Hamburgerfonts, a mix-and-match type specimen that shows off their extensive library of typefaces. We’re very fortunate to call CoFo founder Maria Doreuli (@doreuli) a studiomate in our office in San Francisco, and this project was an absolute blast to work on. Our involvement spanned far and wide, ranging from concepting to design to illustration to photography to a promotional video where we wrote and narrated a script (and even sang a jingle!).
The project was recently featured on @thebrandidentity, where Jonny’s quote sums up our experience working with CoFo: “Imagine if you owned a studio and you started renting a few desks out, hoping that some cool creatives might bring some new energy and enhance the vibe. Now imagine that the very first person to sign a lease was the founder of a very dope type foundry, and that person hires you for a very rad project and is absolutely the coolest chillest client ever.”

Most type designers will be familiar with ‘hamburgerfonts,’ a quirky little term that showcases the unique features of a typeface. As Contrast Foundry’s Founder & Creative Director Maria Doreuli explains, “Similar to how ‘The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog’ contains every letter in the alphabet, Hamburgefonstiv is a made-up word often used to demonstrate the key characteristics of the letters in the Latin alphabet. But as type designers, we often type it as Hamburgerfonts – because that’s exactly what it reminds you of :)”
Here, Contrast Foundry (CoFo) embrace this unconventional ‘hamburgerfonts’ idea wholeheartedly, partnering up with The Office of Ordinary Things (TOOOT) to produce a type specimen of the foundry’s retail catalogue, centred around ‘hamburger fonts.’ With a playful, illustrative style, each typeface from Contrast Foundry’s retail collection is categorised into one of three hamburger-inspired groups – protein (display type), veggies (body type), and condiments (supportive type).
