Stoked to work with @arrival.fest to present Oren Ambarchi + Pale Ribbons Tossed Into the Dark on Monday June 1 at Wyola Club.

Oren's work exists in a personal and unique space between post-minimalist repetition, the electronic edge of 70s prog, contemporary electroacoustic music, and psycho-acoustic experimentalism.Live, he plays guitar through a Leslie speaker & an array of electronics over which he has a dextrous, light touch and what comes across as complete control. In less referential terms (and in our own experience of seeing him live a couple of times) it's beautiful, subtly changing music full of energy and direction, yet with a sense of introversion or mystery about it.

Ambarchi has an immense collaborative CV, having worked with Fennesz, Charlemagne Palestine, Will Guthrie, Sunn O))), Keiji Haino, crys cole, Alvin Lucier, John Zorn, Annea Lockwood, Merzbow, Jim O'Rourke, Jules Reidy, John Tilbury, Evan Parker, Fredrik Rasten & many, many more.

Oren is crucial to the experimental music history of this continent through his involvement with What Is Music? Festival. He has gone onto become globally influential via his various collaborations and his custodianship of Black Truffle Records.

Supporting are Pale Ribbons Tossed Into the Dark who are the post-rock/electro-acoustic/power-ambient trio from Boorloo consisting of Michael Terren, Djuna Lee & Jameson Feakes, tripping through a similarly elliptic crossover of forthright experimentalism and satisfying digital lushness.

Wyola Club is a new venue on High St above Honky Tonk, which is wheelchair accessible via lift.

Tickets on sale now via the link in our bio.

Tone List's annual program is supported by the WA government through @cits_wa.

"Audible Edge is one-of-a-kind and amazing and I hope it never ends." -punter

Do you want to do something wild, gentle, silly or modestly excellent at the Audible Edge Festival of Exploratory Music next year? You can write to Annika and Josten at our new email (!), program@tonelist.com.au. The festival will be on a weekend in April/May.

Audible Edge comes together slowly, in dialogue with multiple partners, co-curators and funding bodies globally. It is a curated program and a small festival without many performance slots. As such we don’t guarantee anything, except that we’ll appreciate the time you have spent to reach out.

Tone List is anti-admin as much as is feasible. There is no proposal form. We encourage you to do the most low-effort thing for you personally, as long as it contains this info in one email:

- a quick introduction.
- what you want to do.
- links to your music (this is the most important bit). Other links are fine.
- accessibility details that you need us to know.
- your travel situation and funding deadlines if relevant (see below).
- any questions.

1-2 sentences is fine for any written stuff. Longer writing, including other conceptual/contextual details, is okay if it is crucial to really understanding or making a case for what you are doing. But our invitation is to make it simple and go spend more time doing something you care about.

We often carry over proposals from previous years. Feel free to give us a nudge if you've sent something in the past and are still keen.

Everyone in AE gets paid according to the same fee policy, which, based on how much funding we achieve, offers between $250 - $1200/person/set. We boost a few projects (local only) with $3000 Seed Fund-ing. If you need more money, we can write you a letter of support for a creative development grant.

Our ability to support flight costs is limited. If you’re out of town, we probably need to work together to get you here. Visiting artists get accommodation and per diems ($95/day), but we only fund flights in special cases.

Ok, now reach out! Please note our process may take up to 8 months. You are welcome to update or remind us of things as necessary.

Our co-presentation with @arrival.fest is a fortnight away on June 1. Join us at new venue @wyola.freo for an exceptionally rare concert of one of the most influential voices in contemporary experimental music, alongside local powerhouse trio @pale.ribbons. Oren's performances are warm-toned trips, patient and unfolding, articulated through a heavily processed electric guitar and a Leslie speaker.

Very grateful for the invitation to present an edition of @vhstracking at @goolugatupheathcote, this coming Wednesday May 20.

We will share two experimental 'films':

- the "aural cinema" of Re-Recorder, a kind of imageless film by @judith.hamann and Joshua Bonnetta. A disorienting, immaculate and beautiful study of layering, making impossible spaces real.

- the near-silent study of light & time, "time space motion" by @shinkan_tamaki, a very moving and subtle work.

Free events, you just need to RSVP!
6:30pm doors for a 7pm start, with an intermission between the two films.

With thanks to the artists, @_tfid and @lyndonxblue, and also to @_d_i_g_e_s_t_i_n_g_ for the flyer.

Tone List is proud to introduce ‘Winding’, a collaborative album from Lyndon Blue featuring Flora Carbo. @lyndonxblue @floracarbo

Winding is a meeting of two sublime sonic wanders transgressing and melding into each others timbral sensitivities.Ten tracks a-wash of found sound , samples and snippets laminates into verbed and hazy structures, all flushed out with glistening saxophone, sparkling and swooping in the space between.

Fresh from premiering the first live performance of Winding at Audible Edge on the 1st of May 26, the duo's emergent unity and cohesiveness can be heard even more magnetically on Lyndon Blue's new studio offering.

"Winding began life as a loose cassette-collage that accumulated over a month in southern Mexico. I'd made it just to pass the downtime on long bus rides or quiet evenings, using an old iPad and a failing dictaphone held together by sellotape. listening back, I liked the mingling of field recordings and musical vignettes (sometimes resembling songs), but didn't know what to do with it... apart from a few distinct snippets (a punk band playing in Coyoacán, a wisp of the Fierro Viejo ("scrap metal") jingle from a passing truck vendor), the sounds captured on mic were mostly vague, hazy, in-between, in no way a travelogue or vivid document of place. The music felt aimless, but in a carefree way that reminded me of the trip's sunny dérives, naive detours and rambling excursions. It kept me curious, but unsure, until I showed Flora and - over the course of just one night in April - she traced over the top with inspired bursts of saxophone that made the whole thing glow. As of now, Winding is still a dusty, scattershot journal entry from places I've briefly been, but also the sound of a fresh collaboration on its maiden voyage, which feels fun on both counts. big thanks to Tone List for being keen to usher it into the world. L x"

Mastered by @encodersound and also featuring contributions from Ben Fear and Darryl Tirtha.
