Thank you @goodboy.creative for bringing me out of commercial directing retirement to make this heater for @ewc_en x @riotgames . If you’re ever going through a dry spell like I was, try moving in the middle of a natural disaster! That seems to open the floodgates!

This was done from conception to shoot to delivery in about two weeks. My deep thanks to everyone who poured their own blood out and/or experienced ego death in the process of getting this done on time. Feeling very grateful for and very unworthy of all your contributions:

look at trailer, michael!i pulled this trailer directly out of my asshole after getting a very unexpected acceptance letter (and request for a trailer) from @slamdancegroup.it’s pretty difficult to make a 1 minute trailer for a 13 minute movie but i tried to lean into the aesthetic of period trailers to make its own original and fun vintage shitpost!

Thank you @pachinkomedia, @jaredwpotter at @partonemedia, and @thomasmac0402 for lending your respective last minute mixology, typography, and voiceology talents.and of course enjoy a fun glimpse at the beautiful work by @nickroney, @carrparts, @winky_pants, @kelsey_and_the_universe, @mwovie, and everyone else!finally special shouts to @zuck for imposing a vertical aspect ratio on this for no reason

very sad to say the sweetest and most inbred lil guy in the world has gone to fetch the big tennis ball in the sky now.chase had a very good run, twelve whole years, and i feel very lucky to have gotten to hang ten with him in texas again just a few weeks ago before his abrupt decline set in.

chase was found when he was four years old, in a yard with 40 other dogs in a hoarding situation.when my parents adopted him he didn’t understand the concept of indoor space, and he thought every new human who entered his life (me included) was sent there to murder him.it took him six months to start wagging his tail at my parents, it took three months of my dallas quarantine era for him to do the same for me, and he never quite came around to my aunt…but he was gentlest and most loving dog once he recognized you, and one he knew your face he never forgot it.

he turned out to be pretty smart too, as far as inbred dogs go.as seen above, he figured out how to open doors, which he did constantly behind our backs but only on camera that once.and every time you finished throwing the ball with him, you’d have to say “dude, go poop,” and he’d sigh, go back into the yard, and make direct eye contact with you as he did.you’d think he’d remember to do it on his own eventually.but i like to think that, maybe after spending so much of his life alone, it made him happy to have people looking out for him in the smallest ways.

chase, you were a chaotic little air hockey puck of an animal and I’m so grateful you and your messed up gene pool entered my life.thanks for bringing a little joy to my quarantine and for being the best boy there ever was.

i am 33 now and i am memorializing fyre fest 2 on the grid!thank you @yard__sard and @corporatescum for being such gracious co-birth hosts and thank you @n8d0999 for building the FEMA tent of our dreams and thank you @degg.eric for making the official shirt.

this is an existentially fraught time to work in this industry and live in LA and i’ve spent a lot of energy lately second guessing my life choices and wondering why i’m here!

but these silly events do so much to remind me that the tenuous nature of this place is balanced out by the unmatched community of freaks who live in it.it’d feel so lonely and incomplete to live and create anywhere else and i am so grateful you all exist!so thanks for showing up and being you, ya animals.and RIP JA RULE

i am 33 now and i am memorializing fyre fest 2 on the grid!thank you @yard__sard and @corporatescum for being such gracious co-birth hosts and thank you @n8d0999 for building the FEMA tent of our dreams and thank you @degg.eric for making the official shirt.

this is an existentially fraught time to work in this industry and live in LA and i’ve spent a lot of energy lately second guessing my life choices and wondering why i’m here!

but these silly events do so much to remind me that the tenuous nature of this place is balanced out by the unmatched community of freaks who live in it.it’d feel so lonely and incomplete to live and create anywhere else and i am so grateful you all exist!so thanks for showing up and being you, ya animals.and RIP JA RULE
