The »Nazar Battu« (evil eye) is a widely used symbol in India to ward off the evil eye. It is attached to buildings or worn as jewelry to repel negative energies—such as envy or resentment. The symbol functions as a surface of deflection, absorbing and neutralizing destructive attention.
During my stays in India, I noticed that the Nazar Battu is often placed on buildings still under construction—on unfinished facades, scaffolding, and raw structures. In these contexts, the symbol itself becomes part of the architectural semantics: less ornament than mythological skin, acting as an agent of narrative charge.
A generated mask based on reference images serves as the basis for a contemporary translation—an inquiry into how mythological semantics, symbolic charge, and narrative projection can operate today as design strategies.

»EUPHORIA - a Hybrid Wellness World« (2020)
Throwback to my master thesis 3 years ago which I never really published. Here are a few visual impressions and a summary of my Essay by
ChatGPT (thanks):
»The Anthropocene era unfolds as a nuanced interplay between physical reality and the digital-virtual domain, shaping a „schizophrenic world.“ Elena Esposito’s notion of virtuality as a „possibility realm alongside the real“ extends beyond contemporary times to the 17th-century genesis of fictional narratives. The dynamic between reality and fiction is exemplified through Goethe’s „The Sorrows of Young Werther,“ showcasing the impact of virtual spaces on reality.
The events of 2020 propel global society into an increased reliance on digital and virtual spheres for social interactions. These technological-induced virtualities introduce novel phenomena, casting doubt on a return to a pre-digital era.
Within the continuum of physical reality and technology-induced virtuality emerges a hybrid reality—an intricate fusion devoid of clear hierarchies, characterized by an oscillation without distinct separation.
The concept of a „schizophrenic world“ draws parallels with the medical definition of schizophrenia—a psychosis arising from the hybridity of different systems rooted in the inception of the Internet and access to digital-virtual spaces.
Addressing this diagnosed schizophrenia is a visionary architectural endeavor—a Sanatorium Wellness of the future. Hybrid Wellness World Euphoria, situated in the former Volkswagen factories, features a spatial grid supporting and distributing technologically induced virtuality. A seamless transition between physical and virtual elements unfolds—a continuity defying clear delineation.
This hybrid reality becomes a lens for critically examining industrial production and its environmental consequences. The project stands as an ode to hybridity—an artistic celebration of the amalgamation of reality and virtuality.«

Exactly one year ago I was part of the performance "Elastic Proximities" by @kim_dallarmi and his great and kind team in the context of his thesis at the @hfbkhamburg.
Here are a few impressions of the visualisation process of the performers in the form of 3D scans and animations.
Thank you for the experience - it was a great pleasure.
🌸😈⚡️⭐️💥
Performance: Anngret Schultze, Anica Schmidt, Chris Hausdorf, Geraldine Schabraque, Joana Atemengue Owona, Kattu Newiger-Mitxelena, Sound: Laetitia Megersa
Kostüm: Mel Redmer
3-D Design: Thomas Bohne

Have fun!
