Our first president was sworn into office in New York City, and started the American experiment of a democratic government powered by the people. President Trump wants absolute, autocratic power. We are making sure he doesn’t get it.

Join the THOUSANDS of New Yorkers hitting the streets for our neighbors and for our rights on Saturday, March 28th at 2PM !

The march starts at 2pm on March 28th, 7th Ave and Central Park South.

I’ll be with @ResistanceRevivalChorus leading folks in song from the Red Steps in Times Square. Don’t forget to wave as you are marching by and keep on singing!

Today is my 60th birthday and I am filling it with as much sunshine and light and good food and flowers as I possibly can. And be forewarned— I am planning on celebrating this one for at least the next six months (one for each decade 😉) so get ready to shower me with an extended streak of celebratory gatherings (anything from coffee to weekends away to a walk in the park) because my greatest joy comes from being with the people I love and lord knows we can all use some joy in our lives right about now.

So my one request is that all of you try and do one nice thing for yourselves today and think of me. And then let’s hang out in all the ways— at protests and parties, in cafés and on the streets— and let’s share stories and recipes and make art and cook food and plan and build and imagine the world we want and then move steadfastly towards it… together.

GULF OF MEXICO!!!

About a week ago I was lucky enough to be able to take a walk on the beach with my mother and when we both put our feet in the glorious body of water that is the Gulf of Mexico, I suddenly felt a real wave of optimism. Like everything is actually going to be ok. So I took this picture to commemorate.

It’s not coming without a hell of a lot of work, but my fellow humans, we’ve got this. LFG!
