✨Paper marbling is a centuries-old aqueous surface design technique where paint or ink is floated on a thickened liquid base (known as size), manipulated into unique patterns, and then transferred onto an absorbent material like paper or fabric. Every piece creates a one-of-a-kind monotype.

💞if you came to the book binding workshop, you can bring that back! We also will have supplies for first timers

🌟Try to arrive by 6:30pm so Kaylene has enough time to teach and guide through the full workshop.

🔹Only bring a manageable amount of clothes. This is not a donation center.
🔹Gently used items that are clean. If you can’t wash it, it’s ok but please make sure it is not unmanageably soiled.
🔹no underwear or socks please!
🔹you do not need to bring items to grab items
🔹this is a trans and queer friendly space! Please bring all gender expressions and sizing! Plus size is always needed.

It is come and go as you please, but please stay for some crafts and conversations. We would love to connect and grow more community.

JAKOB HEINEMANN is a Los Angeles-based multidisciplinary artist who works in the areas of sound art, free improvisation, avant garde composition, photography, and acoustic ecology, with a focus on sonic communion as a means of cultural exchange and solidarity. A double bass player with roots in Chicago’s free jazz community, Jakob has released music on Clean Feed Records, Ruination Recording Co, Party Perfect, Aerophonic Records, and his own imprint, Kashe Editions.

ANA LUISA DÍAZ DE COSSÍO is an improviser drawn to the quiet thresholds of daily life. She works with the violin as a partner, with friction-based sounds, with the mundane and the overlooked, and with found materials and unstable textures, allowing sound to emerge from what is already present.

NATALIA MERLANO GÓMEZ is a musician, singer, improviser, creator, and teacher born in Colombia in 1987. Her interests include folk music worldwide, especially from Latin American countries, academic contemporary music, and experimental music. She is also interested in explorations around video and photography.

SIVAN SILVER-SWARTZ makes experimental music through notated composition, installation, and performance. His music is frequently informed by counterpoint, tuning, memory, the transmission and aesthetics of notation, the political limitations of art, and the need to engage in organizing outside of the artistic sphere. He also is a devoted student of the 11-course lute and its French Baroque repertoire.

T PUTNAM HILL is a musician and artist who works with various sonic materials—primarily field recordings and other incidental sounds, guitar, digital processing, and feedback systems—to produce shifting auditory environments that engage with notions of altered place, space, and fiction. He also runs Loma Editions.

This is a space for folks to hone their words and practice the art of storytelling. There will be guided prompts and space to share, as words are powerful and can help others explore new concepts. Folks can connect at any skill level with writing!

Bring your own notebook, tablet, computer, or device. There will be paper and pens for those that just want to show up.

-We will start with a grounding ice breaker

-Then go into guided writing prompts

-There will be time at the end for open talking circles to share ideas and connect

Writing is powerful and can hold a lot of power in creating and releasing. Come try it out or share with others who are learning!

The industry does not dispose of these hazardous waste so WE are!

🤔When we say eat the rich, do we forget about Big Tobacco?

💰They are made up by billion dollar corporations (the top company, Philip Morris International, is worth $265 billion).
Also they fund politicians that push anti-LGBTQ+ bills and imperialism in Israel.

💖Nuances exist and we know that these products are addictive and become centered in our practices of coping and connecting.

✊🏾But right now, you might be ready to include them in your fight against capitalism and billionaire corporations. So we want to provide some tips to bring you some power in breaking up with Big Tobacco Or maybe just in being a more conscious consumer.
