What makes a place feel like home? A family photo in the front yard, a late-night celebration in the living room or a holiday snapshot kept for decades in a drawer? These moments feel familiar, yet who took them remains unknown.
That's exactly the subject of “No Place Like Home”, presented by The Anonymous Project, initiated by Lee Shulman.
The artist has spent years gathering nearly one million abandoned slides through The Anonymous Project, assembling one of the largest private archives of analog amateur photography in the world. Stripped of names and places, these images move beyond individual stories into something shared, nostalgic and familiar.
On view from 20 June, “No Place Like Home” shows around 12,000 images selected by Lee Shulman and compressed into an installation that literally feels like stepping inside a house you might once have lived in.
🗓️ Save the date: opening & artist talk with Lee Shulman on 19 June. More details coming soon.
The exhibition is curated by Claire Ducresson-Boët, Exhibitions Manager at Fotografiska Berlin, in close collaboration with the artist.

We’re so excited to welcome @lee.shulman, creator of The Anonymous Project, to the DMB roster. Built from an ever-growing archive of found Kodachrome slides, Lee works across photography, film, and installation to preserve the collective memory of the past - but we like to think that his main medium is time itself. Lee’s work is held in major collections like The Getty Museum. He’s currently based in Paris and works globally.

The project Déjà View by @martinparrstudio and @lee.shulman will be exhibited at Raw Photo Fest this May in Menorca, Spain, from May 7–10.
Originally conceived as a collaboration between Martin Parr and Lee Shulman, Déjà View brings together two remarkable photographic archives. On one side, the work of British photographer Martin Parr, Magnum member since 1994 and one of the most influential observers of everyday life. On the other, @the.anonymous.project, founded by Lee Shulman, which preserves more than 800,000 Kodachrome slides taken by amateur photographers around the world between the 1930s and the 1980s.
By pairing Parr’s images with anonymous snapshots, the project creates unexpected visual echoes — playful, striking, and sometimes unsettling. Through these pairings, Déjà View explores how the meaning of a photograph shifts depending on perspective, revealing how images are shaped as much by the viewer as by what they depict.
