🎶 The Last Whale Singer Original Score is out now! 🎶
We could not be prouder of this score. From the very start, the challenge was clear: how do you do justice to these majestic creatures and their songs? How do you give whales a voice? At its heart, this is the story of Vincent setting out to find his own song, and what grew out of that is a sweeping ocean odyssey, drifting from open water down to the deepest trenches, from loss and longing to courage, and we're thrilled to finally let it out into the world.
So much of that comes down to Daníel Bjarnason, who composed every note and built the entire sonic ocean this story swims in, and to Ásgeir, the singing voice of Vincent and the artist behind our title track "I'LL BE." Viktor Orri Árnason shaped the orchestration and production that gave it all its scale and depth, and behind them stood the City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra, the team at Smečky Music Studios, and so many more whose names you'll find below.

Yesterday our CG Supervisor Jan Hofmann and PFX‘s FX Supervisor Amir Ashkezari took the stage at @fmxconference in Stuttgart, one of the world’s leading conferences for animation, VFX and games, with their talk “Trash Island: Building a CG Wonderland from Garbage”. They walked a packed room through the journey of bringing one of the film’s most ambitious set-pieces to life across two studios on opposite ends of Europe. Great questions from the audience afterwards, thank you to everyone who came. 🐋🎶
