it’s very difficult to write this, but i think it’s an important part of my process of letting go. after a slow, painful battle with alzheimer’s disease, my dad is finally at peace. he was and always will be the best dad in the whole wide world! to those that knew him, he was a gentle (and protective) giant with a big heart. a Vietnam Marine Veteran, born to Eunice and Donald Robinett in Oxnard, CA, he was the eldest son of eight children, with two sets of twin sisters (if you can believe it!). he was a UCLA Bruin, an aerospace engineer and an amazing illustrator and sculptor. he’s the father of two beautiful daughters, Robin and Tegan, and the grandpa of three gorgeous granddaughters, Ashley, Mena and Chloe.
he was also a lifelong surfer and beach lover, so my childhood was filled with surf safaris to malibu, santa barbara, manhattan beach and beyond. he was my biggest support in life, and my best friend. letting go feels even more tender than i expected.

it’s very difficult to write this, but i think it’s an important part of my process of letting go. after a slow, painful battle with alzheimer’s disease, my dad is finally at peace. he was and always will be the best dad in the whole wide world! to those that knew him, he was a gentle (and protective) giant with a big heart. a Vietnam Marine Veteran, born to Eunice and Donald Robinett in Oxnard, CA, he was the eldest son of eight children, with two sets of twin sisters (if you can believe it!). he was a UCLA Bruin, an aerospace engineer and an amazing illustrator and sculptor. he’s the father of two beautiful daughters, Robin and Tegan, and the grandpa of three gorgeous granddaughters, Ashley, Mena and Chloe.
he was also a lifelong surfer and beach lover, so my childhood was filled with surf safaris to malibu, santa barbara, manhattan beach and beyond. he was my biggest support in life, and my best friend. letting go feels even more tender than i expected.
my heart is completely broken. i love you so much, Papa. i bet the waves are absolutely bitchin’ in heaven 🌊🩷🕊️
