Good News! 📺 Unsere zweiteilige Dokuserie "Größer als Hip Hop – Die Geschichte des splash! Festivals" bleibt noch über ein Jahr, bis Mitte Juni 2027, in der @ardmediathek in voller Länge online!

Die Dokumentation haben wir zwischen den Festivals 2023 und 2024 gedreht, um zu erzählen, wie sich das @splashfestival vom Chemnitzer Jugendzentrum zu Europas größtem Hip-Hop-Festival entwickelte, sich über die Jahre durch große Krisen und Konflikte gekämpft, eine drohende Insolvenz abgewendet hat 💪 und heute in Ferropolis zu Hause ist. Hier ein kurzer Ausschnitt aus der ersten Episode, die sich mit der Subkultur Hip Hop, der Gründung des Festivals im Jahr 1998 und der Entwicklung zu einem wichtigen Player in der Veranstaltungsbranche beschäftigt.

Als Sprecherin konnten wir die Moderatorin und Podcasterin @visavieofficial gewinnen 🙏🏽 gedreht haben wir mit Artists wie @badmomzjay @bleibe.liz @juju44 @samydeluxe @afrobofficial , @koolsavas @realtrettmann @rintintin @wer.ist.aggu und vielen mehr. 🎤
Eine RED TOWER FILMS Produktion im Auftrag des @mdr_mitteldeutscherrundfunk in Zusammenarbeit mit @ardkultur und RBB @fritz_offiziell

💬 Außerdem sind einige Sequenzen aus dieser Produktion im Rahmen einer Ausstellung über musikalische und kulturelle Kollaborationen in einer raumfüllenden Medieninstallation zu verschiedenen Genres und Bewegungen zu sehen – wie etwa Punk, Techno oder eben Hip-Hop. Die Ausstellung trägt den Titel MISHPOCHA: The Art of Collaboration und ist eine Kooperation des @juedischesmuseumffm mit dem @ateliermarkgraph Mitkurator an diesem Projekt ist @miked der amerikanische Musiker, Rapper und Mitbegründer der @beastieboys✨ Hip-Hop, Punk und Techno treffen auf zeitgenössische Positionen u. a. von Tammy Rae Carland, Geoff McFetridge und Shimon Wanda sowie auf immersive Videoarbeiten und ein Studio zum Mixen und Samplen. 🎧 Workshops, Konzerte und Happenings tragen das Projekt zusätzlich in den Stadtraum.

🔺HALLENKUNST – ART IN TRANSIT AND BEYOND jetzt erhältlich bei ilovegraffiti.de [Link in Bio]

Ein Projekt, an dem wir aktiv mitgearbeitet haben, ist jetzt in einem fast 500-seitigen Buch ausführlich dokumentiert und erhältlich: ART IN TRANSIT AND BEYOND. Die @hallenkunst-Doppelausstellung fand vom 28.08.2025 bis 12.10.2025 in der Europäischen Kulturhauptstadt Chemnitz statt und erzählt im Kern eine Geschichte, die wir seit vielen Jahren hier auf ILOVEGRAFFITI.DE begleiten. Eine teils detaillierte Forschung nach historischen Ereignissen und miteinander verknüpften Projekten, Medien und Prozessen von Graffiti als Subkultur. Warum, wie und wann ist New-York-inspiriertes Graffiti speziell auf Zügen entstanden und in welchen Schritten ist es nach Europa gekommen, und wie wurde Graffiti Writing Europa später interpretiert und weiterentwickelt. Auch hier interessiert uns schon immer der Fokus auf Zügen, denn da hat Graffiti bekanntlich sehr spannende stilistische Entwicklungen zu verzeichnen, denkt man an Futura2000’s Break Train im Jahr 1980, den Club of Rome München um 1988, Art Inconsequence 2006 oder die Arbeiten von RAGE und MOSESTAPS in den 2010er Jahren. Damit einher gehen zahlreiche weitere Protagonisten, viele Filme, Bücher und Galeristen, die diesen Weg nicht nur begleitet, sondern stark mitgeprägt haben.

In diesem Bereich der Graffiti-Forschung sind wir schon länger aktiv, unter anderem im Rahmen der arte.tv-Dokuserie RISE OF GRAFFITI – From New York To Europe oder eben diesem Ausstellungsprojekt. Mit dem Unterschied, dass diese Erzählung ergänzt wird durch kuratierte künstlerische Auseinandersetzungen und Positionen, die zeigen sollen, was aus den Protagonisten dieser über 40-jährigen Geschichte einer Subkultur in Europa geworden ist.

Der Katalog fasst diese Erzählung nun in einem fast 500-seitigen Buch zusammen, das nicht nur ein Katalog, sondern auch ein interessanter Beitrag zur kulturhistorischen Dokumentation geworden ist.

Unsere zweite Buchserie ist gestartet: das WHITEBOOK! Als Counterpart zum BLACKBOOK setzen wir in diesen Büchern den Fokus auf die Dokumentation und Fotografie im Bereich Graffiti und Train Writing. Portfolios und Essays aus der Community, die im Rahmen von abgeschlossenen Projekten entstanden sind.

Das erste Buch aus dieser Serie trägt den Titel IT`S A CIRCLE und kommt als Bildband und Essay des Fotografen Mark Grokenberger (@markgrokenberger), der selbst seit vielen Jahren Sprüher ist und für dieses Projekt zwischen 2019 und 2025 gemeinsam mit zahlreichen Freunden aus ganz Europa zehn mal in New York war. Mark hat über alle Reisen Tagebuch geführt und die zahlreichen Entstehungen von Wholetrains oder Wholecars akribisch, intim und sehr atmosphärisch mit der Kamera festgehalten und beschrieben. For this project, he visited the Big Apple, the birthplace of New York Subway-inspired graffiti, ten times. This form of graffiti originated in the early 1970s and has since evolved into a vibrant, progressive, and global subculture over the past 55 years. Many graffiti artists from around the world make a pilgrimage there every year to find inspiration and to be active in the place where it all began, and to participate in something they themselves have been meticulously involved in for many years. Mark has chronicled this process in textual and photographic form, straddling the genres of diary and cultural essay.
