Its publication day for The Waters that Raised Us! 🌊

Edited by me, the anthology brings together Welsh writers to write about the bodies of water they know and love. It feels especially important to write about and honour the waters that have made us who we are, when our waters are risk of rising sea levels, pollution and climate change.

Inside are essays that are intimate, tender and honest. Tracing family stories, exploring identity, and considering how the seas, rivers, waterfalls and reservoirs shape who we become.

I have an essay inside where I write about the waters of my heritage in Barry and Barbados and consider the water an ancestor.

Its publication day for The Waters that Raised Us! 🌊

Edited by me, the anthology brings together Welsh writers to write about the bodies of water they know and love. It feels especially important to write about and honour the waters that have made us who we are, when our waters are risk of rising sea levels, pollution and climate change.

Inside are essays that are intimate, tender and honest. Tracing family stories, exploring identity, and considering how the seas, rivers, waterfalls and reservoirs shape who we become.

I have an essay inside where I write about the waters of my heritage in Barry and Barbados and consider the water an ancestor.

A week today 'The Waters That Raised Us' is published by Seren Books', & edited by Taylor Edmonds.

Here's a photo - seemingly the only one I have developed - of Swiss Valley Reservoir in Llanelli. These days there is a sauna, water sports, and a cafe that sells "puppucino", and swimming is strictly forbidden. But growing up there was hardly anything there and it was easy to swim in the water by climbing down the muddy banks.

My essay is about the reservoir, about climate anxiety, experiencing new love and nature during COVID lockdowns, and about storytelling itself.

I also literally found a story at the reservoir, that someone had printed on a scroll, sealed in a tube and left for someone to find. But more on that another time 🚣
