This work depicts a dystopian world in which human life is governed entirely by numbers—figures that have come to wield an authority comparable to that of a deity.

In Japan, it is customary to place photographs of ancestors, respected figures, or deified individuals in the highest part of the home, close to the ceiling. This practice symbolises reverence and acknowledges the presence of power or spirituality above the everyday space of living. Historically, societies—including Japan—were organised through such religious authority or the words of sovereign leaders.

In contrast, contemporary life is shaped not by human voices but by numerical systems: metrics, scores, algorithms, and statistical models that classify, predict, and regulate behaviour. Numbers now function as an absolute authority, defining personal value, decision-making, and social position in ways that rival, or even surpass, earlier forms of divine or political control.

By juxtaposing religious symbolism with the logic of data-driven governance, this work exposes the contradictions within a society where the sacred has been replaced by quantification.
It invites the viewer to consider a fundamental question:
What truly governs us today—the human, the divine, or the numerical algorithm?

本作品は、あらゆる行動や価値判断が「数字」によって管理される現代社会を、神に匹敵する力として描き出したディストピア的表現である。

日本では、家の中で最も高い位置──天井近くに、先祖や高位の人物、あるいは神格化された存在の写真を掲げる文化がある。これは、絶対的な権威や信仰の対象を、生活空間の中で最も崇高な場所に置くという象徴的な行為である。かつて社会は、こうした宗教的権威や統治者の言葉によって秩序づけられてきた。

A map of Algorithmic / Random walks in London

Since the emergence of the internet, we have become surrounded by an overwhelming volume of information. To reduce this burden, companies deploy algorithms that filter content according to user interests. However, this mechanism creates “filter bubbles,” narrowing perspectives and potentially deepening social division.

This work investigates how algorithms shape our perception of the world and whether it is possible to step outside this structure to reclaim a more self-directed mode of engaging with information.

By combining Google Maps’ shortest-route suggestion with a dice-based random walk through London, I compared two kinds of information:
• the content passively presented by the algorithm, and
• the observations actively discovered through physical movement.

The final piece consists of three elements:
1. A flow diagram visualising the logic behind Google Maps’ information display,
2. A network map of the information collected through active observation, and
3. A spatial structure comparing the algorithmic route and the random route.

By visualising the gap between algorithmically guided vision and bodily, situated perception, the work seeks to reconsider how our ways of seeing have transformed in the post-internet era.

本作品は、アルゴリズムが私たちの世界の見え方をどのように形づくっているのか、そしてその構造から離れ、主体的に情報を選び取ることが可能かを探究したものである。

Google Maps の最短ルートと、サイコロで進行方向を決めるランダムウォークを組み合わせてロンドンを歩き、
• アルゴリズムが受動的に提示する情報

To reduce this burden, companies deploy algorithms that filter content according to user interests. Memory Reconstruction Projects

Postcards have long served as a fundamental tool for communication, predating the internet. By receiving a postcard, we construct images and memories of distant lands, even those we have never personally visited.

In this project, I acquire vintage postcards—once sent by someone long ago—from flea markets and travel to the exact locations depicted in them. By capturing the contemporary landscape through my own lens and overlaying it with the original imagery, I reconstruct a new layer of memory.

When the distant memories of a stranger intersect with the artist’s current gaze, the postcard transcends its role as a mere record, evolving into a living, reconstructed narrative.

ポストカードは、インターネットが普及する以前から存在する、最も身近なメッセージ伝達ツールの一つである。私たちはポストカードを受け取ることで、たとえ訪れたことのない土地であっても、その場所のイメージや思い出を自分の中に形作ってきた。

For every „like“ received on a post by the Instagram account @no_title_yet , one pixel of the artwork is revealed.

In contemporary society, metrics such as „likes“ and „retweets“ exert such power that they often govern our emotions. This project ironically explores the relationship between artistic value and social media metrics by making the artwork’s visibility entirely dependent on these digital figures.

By exposing our psychological obsession with numerical symbols, this work questions the true nature of „value“ in the digital age.

Instagramアカウント @no_title_yetの投稿に「いいね」が1つ付くごとに、作品の1ピクセルが可視化される。

現代において、SNSの「いいね」や「リツイート」といった数値は、時に私たちの感情を支配するほどの力を持つ。本プロジェクトでは、作品の露出（価値）をSNS上の数値に完全に委ねることで、デジタルな評価軸と作品価値の相関関係をアイロニカルに描き出す。

数値という記号に翻弄される私たちの心理を浮き彫りにし、現代における「価値」のあり方を問い直す試みである。

For every „like“ received on a post by the Instagram account @no_title_yet , one pixel of the artwork is revealed.

In contemporary society, metrics such as „likes“ and „retweets“ exert such power that they often govern our emotions. This project ironically explores the relationship between artistic value and social media metrics by making the artwork’s visibility entirely dependent on these digital figures.

By exposing our psychological obsession with numerical symbols, this work questions the true nature of „value“ in the digital age.

Instagramアカウント @no_title_yetの投稿に「いいね」が1つ付くごとに、作品の1ピクセルが可視化される。

現代において、SNSの「いいね」や「リツイート」といった数値は、時に私たちの感情を支配するほどの力を持つ。本プロジェクトでは、作品の露出（価値）をSNS上の数値に完全に委ねることで、デジタルな評価軸と作品価値の相関関係をアイロニカルに描き出す。

数値という記号に翻弄される私たちの心理を浮き彫りにし、現代における「価値」のあり方を問い直す試みである。

This work retrieves the fluctuations of the British Pound against the US Dollar from a foreign exchange site every three minutes, representing each rise and fall through the symbol of an “arrow.”

Our lives are surrounded by numbers: birth rates, or the number of infections during a pandemic. We find ourselves swayed by these fluctuations, becoming subordinate to the data as it acts as a switch that toggles our emotions between joy and anxiety. In this process of “signification,” the heavy reality of individual lives is stripped away, reduced to a mere abstraction of “increase” or “decrease.”

What meaning remains when numerical data is replaced by a symbolic arrow? This work explores the precarious relationship between our daily lives and the numerical signs that govern them.

3分ごとに更新される為替サイトからUKポンドとUSドルの変動を入手し、その増減を「矢印」という記号で表現する。

私たちの生活は、常に数字に囲まれている。出生数、あるいはパンデミック下における感染者数。私たちはその数値の増減に一喜一憂し、いつの間にか数値そのものに従属し、感情をコントロールされるスイッチとして機能させてしまっている。しかし、そこにある個別の命や生活という重たい実体は、記号化のプロセスで削ぎ落とされ、ただの「増減」へと還元されていく。

A map of Algorithmic / Random walks in Tokyo (Video ver)

Following the same methodology as the previous walk in London, this project documents a journey across Tokyo from east (Kiyosumi-shirakawa) to west (Shibuya). The route was determined every 15 minutes by Google Maps and the roll of a die—a literal “algorithmic walk.”

The installation displays photographs taken during this journey in a real-time, randomized sequence. These images have been categorized and analyzed by the artist, accompanied by “three keywords” that deconstruct why each subject captured their interest.

In parallel, the screen integrates Tokyo’s urban data into a 3D landscape, where a virtual camera autonomously pans across the cityscape. By navigating between the macro perspective of urban data and the micro perspective of the artist’s subjective gaze, the work explores a new mode of urban exploration in the digital age.

本作は、ロンドンでのプロジェクトと同様の手法を用い、東京の東（清澄白河）から西（渋谷）までを、Google Mapsとサイコロの指示に従って横断した記録である。15分ごとにルートを強制的に切り替える「アルゴリズムによる散策」の中で、作家は街の断片を撮影し続けた。

展示画面では、歩行中に撮影された写真がリアルタイムにランダム表示される。それらの写真は作家自身によって分析・カテゴリー化されており、さらに「なぜその対象に惹かれたのか」を紐解く3つのキーワードがテキストとして同時に生成される。
