When it comes to the built world, there are so many things we take for granted. The floorboards holding us up, the roof over our heads, the lights that turn on at the flip of a switch — our daily lives are full of small miracles. For many of those, we can thank a builder.
We don’t want to take that for granted. So, we’re proud to kick off our participation in Safety Week by recognizing our dedicated trade partners and how they raise the structures that define our skylines.
At Suffolk, giving back has always been part of who we are. In 2025, we turned that spirit into action with our National Volunteer Pledge: a promise for every employee to show up for our communities. This year, we’re challenging ourselves to go even further, with a collective goal of 20,000 volunteer hours nationwide. Together, we’re proving that when we care with purpose, our impact is powerful.
Here’s what that looks like. We hope it inspires you to join us and help make a mark in your community!
We are so excited to announce that rehabilitation is commencing on the Mira Mar Residences!
The City of Sarasota officially issued the construction rehabilitation permit last week, allowing work to begin on the historic 100-year-old Mira Mar building.
At completion, two 18-story buildings will house 70 luxury condominium residences, thoughtfully incorporating elements of the historic architecture to complement and honor the original building. The project is located on the last prime, centrally located 400 feet of frontage on South Palm Avenue in Downtown Sarasota.
The fence around the property has been placed, then construction will focus on "stabilizing and reinforcing the foundation of the existing historic building," says historic restoration expert Rick Gonzalez, President of REG Architects, and who has recently been appointed to the National Advisory Council on Historic Preservation.
With extensive historic rehabilitation and luxury condominium experience, Suffolk Construction (@suffolkbuild) will be the general contractor for the project.

This might look like just a sign. But to marathon runners like Suffolk's Kiley Erickson (and all of us Bostonians, really), it's an icon, a symbol of Boston for the last 60 years. Put it this way: Boston without the CITGO sign just doesn't feel like Boston.
Suffolk is proud to be working with our partners to relocate and restore this landmark for our hometown. Development in this neighborhood continues to rise, and by moving the sign 120 feet east and 30 feet higher, it'll remain a beacon for those who compete in one of the world's most storied races — this year and for generations to come.
It's no secret that we love a little friendly competition here at Suffolk, and our people found just that at our recent Ops Ex Tournament of Champions final.
This annual quiz show tests team members on their knowledge of Suffolk standards, with four finalists triumphing in their regional games to compete live at our Boston headquarters for the title. Almost 1,000 people took the qualification quiz. Only one was crowned Ops Ex Champion.
Events like this one and programs through Red & Blue University, our comprehensive suite of career development opportunities, form the foundation of our culture of learning. Thanks to Kelsie Pelli, Nicolina Attanasio, Ishani Shah, and Michael Piscitello for participating and showing what it means to be part of a world-class learning organization!
What is it actually like to work as a super at Suffolk? They're our boots on the ground at every jobsite, but that description doesn't even begin to cover it. We asked three Suffolk superintendents — John Rourke, Abby Sawyer and Matthias Weislogel — to give us the full story, in their own words. Check out our video series at the link in our bio to hear what they had to say.
Our Suffolk Tampa team has achieved final TCO for The Residences at 400 Central! Now the tallest tower on Florida’s Gulf Coast, the 46-story condominium features 301 residences, Class A office space and ground-floor retail. Congratulations to our project partners for helping bring to life this iconic addition to downtown St. Petersburg’s skyline.
Our Suffolk builders love a challenge, and a recent volunteer shift at @mealsofhope_ provided one: packing 25,000 meals in two hours, all for local Boston food pantries. Assistant Project Manager Jared Brewer walks us through how they made it happen.
Every high-rise structure has to start at the same place: right at ground level. Our Las Vegas builders are making that happen a little differently at the Four Seasons Private Residences Las Vegas, the first high rise in the City of Henderson, Nevada.
Introducing The Brook, a mixed-use tower at the corner of Fulton Street and Flatbush Avenue in Brooklyn. We're incredibly proud of our New York team for completing this milestone project while maintaining an impeccable safety record throughout the duration of construction. Those efforts earned them a spot as a finalist in Suffolk's Safest Project Award last year, which recognizes teams that go above and beyond to prioritize jobsite safety. Keeping our community safe and delivering another jewel to Brooklyn — that's a win-win for us.
It's month four of Project Engineer Robert Hurford's construction career, and he's already taking on a (literal) mountain of responsibility — in the best way possible. Hear what he's working on at Suffolk's Four Seasons Private Residences Las Vegas project as a member of our Career Start two-year rotational program, as well as how he's building toward his own future growth.
One High Line — one of the most glamorous, striking developments in Chelsea — is now fully open to the public, with the completion of Faena New York and the building's public plaza earlier this fall. The entire One High Line development consists of a 35-story condo tower, a 26-story tower with 236 condominiums and the Faena's 120-key hotel, a six-story commercial building and the public plaza. Our New York team completed the residential component in fall 2024, and we're incredibly proud of our work to add this building to New York's storied skyline.
