Marriage was seen as the most significant accomplishment and as a primary life goal, the moment a woman’s life was said to truly begin. Red fabrics, gold jewels and intricate embroidery marked a beginning that was truly never theirs.
Red was the colour of duty.
but i’m the first woman in my line who gets to live differently. To choose love, purpose and timing on my own terms. I’m so grateful to be able to pursue a career in mental health, create art, get involved in hobbies that transcends gender norms and also break generational curses. To claim red as a colour of freedom & to live a life that truly and ONLY belongs to me.

“அவள் பார்த்தால் கல் மலரும்” [under her gaze, even stone blossoms into life] 🪷
My life does not center around men. I do not seek male validation nor will I ever put all my creativity, effort, time and energy into creating something that caters solely to a male audience.
For generations, the image of a woman has been meticulously framed, curated and judged by an external lens: the male gaze. Her body a public canvas, a repository for others’ desires and moral scrutiny. This piece is about reclaiming that gaze! A powerful embodiment of the conceptual shift that allows the woman on frame to define her own relationship with the viewer. An exploration of a woman’s internal narrative.
When women create, consume or participate in media framed by the female gaze, it validates their own experiences, offering nuanced representations that often feel absent from mainstream culture. The focus moves from being evaluated on beauty standards and desirability, the metrics of the male gaze to being valued for inner life. Fosters a much healthier self-perception, allowing women to celebrate their bodies and identities as they are, with only self validation being the focus.
