What drew me to Next Step Studio Indonesia is the fact that, for me, Southeast Asian cinema today is becoming more fearless in exploring emotional and formal complexity. We are speaking through our own rhythms, memories, spirituality, and contradictions.
I want to work with people who truly want to work with me — collaborators who respect my craftsmanship and can push my talents and creativity into new realms. I’m drawn to projects that explore the body, identity, memory, and emotional complexity through cinematic language.
These bright voices of the new wave of Southeast Asian filmmakers deserve the world’s biggest screens. The 65th @semaine_de_la_critique at the 79th @festivaldecannes is the perfect birthplace for us, and marks the beginning of a very bright future ahead.

Ever since I was little, I dreamed of being a queen from another era. I was deeply fascinated by the Renaissance, the elegance, romance, and timeless beauty. And I remember thinking… if there’s one day in my life where I could truly live that dream, it would be my wedding day.

That’s why my dress and every little detail surrounding our celebration was inspired by that vision.
