Set against the backdrop of one of the most influential wrestling cities in the world, Raj Singh is helping carry Calgary’s wrestling legacy into a new era by training the next generation at Stampede City Wrestling Academy. In the latest episode of Living a Creative Life, we explore the evolving world of professional wrestling in Calgary through the legacy built in this city and the people shaping its future.

See how former art student and now wrestling promoter Anna Fuchshuber creates more opportunities, experimentation, and representation within the wrestling world with her new Alberta Arts Professional Wrestling (AAPW). And how Dallas Hart is continuing his family’s wrestling legacy through the launch of Dungeon Wrestling, a cutting-edge promotion reimagining what wrestling can look like for a new generation.

Host Adora steps directly into the ring, learning the fundamentals of wrestling from in ring technique and physical performance to the art of character building and spectacle. As she trains with the wrestlers and experiences the intensity of the sport firsthand, she also learns how to craft and perform her own wrestling promo, discovering the theatricality, charisma, and storytelling that have made professional wrestling such a powerful cultural force. 🤼‍♀️

Enter the ring and see the full episode at the link in our bio. 💪

Some places don’t just show art. They hand artists the tools, the space and the entry points to make something ambitious and entirely their own - whether they’re emerging or established. As gallery curator and media artist Mackenzie Bedford puts it, EMMEDIA is a really special spot with an incredible breadth of technical knowledge, but also the anything-goes vibe needed to uplift underground artists.

A rare combination. 🔦💡

Join Adora as she steps inside @emmediayyc to explore how the centre continues to evolve as both a media arts gallery and a place for artists to gather and learn.

Through conversations with artists impacted by the organization, we see how EMMEDIA functions as a bridge - connecting artists to tools, collaborators and audiences in a space where technology, experimentation and artistic expression intersect.

EMMEDIA is an important part of Calgary’s media arts community, a space where technology, experimentation, and artistic expression intersect. Over the last several decades, @emmediayyc has supported artists working in media arts, as well as providing access to equipment and studio space.

In our latest Living a Creative Life episode, host Adora steps inside EMMEDIA to explore how the centre continues to evolve as both a media arts gallery and a place for artists to gather and learn. Through conversations with artists that have been impacted by the organization, we see how EMMEDIA functions as a bridge - connecting artists to tools, collaborators, and audiences. ⚙️

From hands-on experimentation to public exhibitions, this episode captures the energy of a place where artists at all stages are supported in pushing their practice forward and shaping the future of media art in Calgary.

What if you could walk into a room in Calgary knowing nobody… and leave with a family? According to Abigail Tsegaye, Alcove Centre for the Arts is that room. A place where no matter your skillset, there’s always someone willing to teach you things, connect you with somebody to help your project, or simply become new friends.

What began as monthly showcases and popups has grown into a living, breathing ecosystem, one of Calgary’s most welcoming recreational art hubs built on the belief that creativity should be accessible, communal, and open to everyone. From grassroots beginnings to becoming a cultural anchor for emerging artists and curious first timers alike, Alcove is reshaping how people engage with art in Calgary.

Want to know more about this beautiful space? Hit the link in our bio for the full video.

What happens when artists go beyond collaborating… and actually become part of each other’s art? Modelling for a still-life painting by @yuchenartstudio, multi-disciplinary artist Harvey Nichol stepped into something unfamiliar, only to find connection inside it. 🇵🇭

Through her residency at the Ledge Gallery, where she is developing Portraits of Belonging, Yu-Chen expands portraiture into a cross-cultural exchange.

She invites people from different backgrounds to inhabit their own cultural memory and participate in a shared exploration of self-representation through painting, photography, traditional makeup, and performance.

Discover Yu-Chen’s incredible ability to connect cultures through art at our link in bio. 🎥🎨

Yu-Chen is a painter whose work moves between tradition and transformation. Originally trained in Western oil painting, she began re-examining her own cultural roots after relocating to Canada in 2019. What emerged from that journey is a practice centered on Hanfu, the traditional clothing of the Han people, which she uses as both subject and symbol to explore identity, memory, and belonging.

In our brand-new episode, Adora visits Yu-Chen during her residency at the Ledge Gallery, where she is developing Portraits of Belonging, a project that expands portraiture into a cross-cultural exchange.

We dive further into her world through painting, photography, traditional makeup, and performance, and hear how and why Yu-Chen invites people from different backgrounds to inhabit their own cultural memory and participate in a shared exploration of self-representation.

Dive into the mesmerizing world of Hanfu with Yu-Chen at the link in our bio. 🎨

The first time her art hit the streets, it had wheels. Inspired by the rescue dogs in her life and her work making tuppies - intricate embroidered dog blankets built to decorate dogs and show they’re part of the family - Presley Mills created an art bus that was just joyful, exciting and moving, living art.

Her work showcases the joy of public art, and Calgary has always been a city shaped by what happens outside the gallery walls. Murals, monuments, sculptures and installations form an open-air collection that belongs to everyone.

With the @calgaryartsdev Public Art Guide, a digital map that turns the entire city into a museum, hundreds of public artworks become one living, evolving archive. A tool that connects people to the places and stories that define Calgary. ❤️

But what does it feel like to see your art drive past you on a city street? Watch Presley’s full interview and see the Public Art Guide for yourself at our link in bio. 🚌
